the 2024 student encampments on college campuses had movement discipline and the state still beat them, tear gassed them, expelled them, and in some cases deported them

"Collecting" is probably (still) my favorite poem we have published to date. I go back to it so often. The author of the poem was generous enough to send a reading of it for our livestream we had back in 2023: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXV_...

Truly immense stuff! Give it a listen

I was pulling poems we previously published in past issues of @rabblereview.bsky.social for an upcoming blog post for rabblereview.com/blog, and wow we have really published some incredible work!!!
The poem is a from Rabble Review No.8. It is black text on a green page. It is titled Dahlia and is written by Andal Srviatsan

It reads:

The sound of gunshots
eats away at my purpose
Like drops of crisp cold water falling mercilesssly
Over a man, on the same spot of the skull
till he begins to feel like he is being hit
over the head with a ball peen hammer.
And while I tend to my dahlias,
my spirt withers with yesterday's
parched petals.

Published in Rabble Review No.8 on page 133. RABBLE REVIEW poem titled,

Collecting by Reinfred Dziedzorm Addo.

It reads:
"I am collecting money, houses, fame
Collecting romance, people, food
Collecting animals, pictures, friends
Who's going to offer something in return?

Fuck that, I am collecting
Collecting cars, jobs, love
When'll we give any?

Fuck that, I am collecting
Collecting sleep, art, faith
Where's the offering coming from?
Fuck that, I am collecting
Collecting pride, joy, clothes
Why aren't we gifting any?
I am collecting
Collecting knowledge, wisdom, sex
Collecting strangers, laughter, shoes
What about an offertory in return
No one ever asked me"

Published in Rabble Review No.6 on page 30. A poem from RABBLE REVIEW No.1 titled, 37 written by Brendan Joyce.

It reads:

Work one Sunday, work
them all. Industry standards
shoot anise liqueur on the patio
while football loons ring in
the afternoon. When it ends I will be 80% butter. Or
my apron will be Bloody
Mary. Or there will be
two days where all I will
think about is how
this will never end.

Published in RABBLE REVIEW No.1 on page 142.
