Societies never know it, but the war of an artist with his society is a lover's war, and he does, at his best, what lovers do, which is to reveal the beloved to himself and, with that revelation, to make freedom real.

Does anyone know if I can edit a post? It seems this is not Portland, but Germany some 7 years ago.
rabihalameddine.bsky.social
It seems so. I did a search before posting and it all came up as portland, which I assume is because it's doing the rounds today.

Oh, damn. I did a search and all of them said Portland. It must be because it's doing the rounds today.

Transmisogyny is just this bizarre clusterfuck where people treat you like a woman, in that they talk over you, call you overly emotional, sexualise you, judge you harshly on how well you embody femininity, disbelieve you when you say you've been mistreated, all the while insisting that you're a man

Certainly is. And Unfortunately, it's always timely.

Actually, the real reason Krasznahorkai won the Nobel is because I was with my mother when I met him. He spent the whole dinner engaging her in a long conversation. Obviously, he has great taste.

Congrats to friend of the mag László Krasznahorkai for winning the Nobel Prize in Literature -- a well deserved award for someone whom real heads have known for years as a master of neo-modernism.

@jakeromm.bsky.social wrote about him for us in 2023.
