Look, it looks like shit but I was able to do my eyeliner fairly quickly cause I completely forgot I had a doctor's appointment today & honestly, feels like a milestone cause it would take me at least 30 minutes to do it previously 😅

Some of the worst experiences of my life were in those offices & it did lasting damage to me, all while trying to navigate it while being undiagnosed for ADHD, autism & complex trauma (which it only compounded). It's an evil, uncaring system designed to hurt the most vulnerable

The purpose of this system is not to get people into work, it's to punish people out of work so harshly that it acts as a deterrent for anyone who might be in shitty working conditions doesn't enter the system. It doesn't give a fuck who it has to break in order to maintain that deterrence

I was making genuine efforts to get myself back into the workforce again & Centrelink/the job network system actively caused me so much stress & trauma through "mutual obligations" that it completely set me back to less than square one. Dealing with the government in general is now a trigger for me

I've more or less accepted that me correcting her on my name is just gonna be a thing (and she does seem to be getting it right more than not these days at least) but I've told her she can call me her daughter & she's just never done it & she just seems to refuse to recontextualise my childhood

Yeah, I get the vibe from my mum that she's more doing things in an effort to not upset me (she's done the over-apologising thing more than once) or to keep up appearances that she's a good person rather than making an effort to shift how she sees me. I hate that it bothers me as much as it does

I'm genuinely wondering if it's worth going into detail about how I felt growing up & even though I didn't have the language for it, something always felt wrong. But I don't know if that's just gonna be wasted energy cause I honestly don't know if she'll ever fully see me as a woman

Do y'all have any advice on how to deal with having a parent who seems to be kinda getting the trans thing but then has pretty noticeable backslides? Mum said "you boys" (referring to me & my brother) 3 times yesterday after getting it right previously 😔
