Any Australian feeling smug about ICE in particular should take a second to think about how refugees have been treated by our government, all the way back to Woomera (which opened in 1999) to Manus & Nauru. Our cops & our border policies have always been completely fucked to say the least

Everything will seem scary at first, but trust me, it gets easier with time. I boymoded the first year I was on HRT & was quite scared to go out in public, but I worked on it little by little & eventually the need to be myself outweighed any fear I felt. Courage is a muscle, you can build it 💜

Recommend finding any trans femme online groups (avoid reddit at all costs) & trying to forge connections with other trans people & trans women especially. Having some sense of community, even if it's only online at first, will help a lot. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for other trans women

Also just tell her to take her time & to experiment with what makes her feel good in regards to clothes, makeup & presentation. Cis girls get big periods where they can figure out who they are as teenagers & that's where she's starting from, so tell her to be kind to herself throughout that

If she feels comfortable, highly recommend starting on laser hair removal/electrolysis sooner rather than later. That process takes time & she'll be glad she got on it quickly. Also recommend looking up voice training videos, that can also take time to really settle into (neither are mandatory)

I highly recommend she just starts on estrogen as a first step. She'll realise pretty quickly whether or not that's something she wants to continue & you can basically take it for a few weeks before any permanent changes set in. I can DM you some HRT guides to give her the best info before starting

Anxieties around acceptance: Hard to say without knowing her situation, but for friends/family: People who don't know who you are can't accept you & if people can't accept you for who you are, you don't want them in your life. Family will sometimes come around if they think they'll lose you entirely

It absolutely sucks that these digital systems are requiring so much information, but that's also true of multiple platforms, including government services. Ultimately I put fault on the platforms, not people who are refusing to be cut off from any online communities & want to keep using them

I definitely don't like it either, but I don't think anyone opting in is a bad leftist. Everything is about weighing up risk & honestly, if you're doing anything that requires opsec, you shouldn't even be alluding to it on Discord regardless, the security concerns have always been there

I am very injury prone & have a bunch of physical problems that make exercise quite hard for me, but I am noticing how much of a strain really basic things have been for me lately & just want to improve my overall level of fitness & strength if I can

No cishet man ever talks about fucking dudes or how pretty this dude was. It just isn't gender neutral & when I was growing up there were cis girls who got quite mad when you referred to them as being dudes. They didn't get anywhere near the pushback as trans women do now when they do the same
