A company called Apatura wants to build a handful of AI data centres across the central belt, the first next to Heriott Watt. It claims it's doing consumers a favour by zapping up 200MW of electricity and an Olympic swimming pool+ worth of water. www.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

"Weight" is an intriguing variable. Will owners of massive SUVs and utes need to pay extra b/c of their environmental and safety costs? (They should.)

Thank you @keepscotbeautiful.bsky.social for letting me write this blog on dental flossers. How can a pack of 30 plastic 'plackers' from Tesco be called 'eco sensitive' (and get away with it....)? www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/blog/2025/de...

Are people... flossing in public? Now, 22 orgs, charities and community groups have signed an open letter calling to ban single use dental flossers, or dental 'harps' - a growing feature on our beaches and streets. #dontflossandtoss #singleuseplastic #litter

I've drafted an open letter to call to ban single use plastic dental flossers. Luckily I've had some big names agree to back it. Can anyone recommend Scottish community groups around plastic pollution / litter that I can send it to? #donttossandfloss

@dastonsnp.bsky.social Thank you Danny for your proposed moratorium on student blocks in Edinburgh! It isn't right to keep demolishing old buildings in a climate emergency, just to provide a high return for institutional investors.

@gillianamartin.bsky.social We'd like to raise the fines with engine idling, as we've done with pavement parking, as we've done with LEZs, and enforce the fines, so kids - and all of us - have cleaner air. £20 fine doesn't cover the cost, it won't change behaviour. www.scotsman.com/news/transpo...

Fewer bus stops is not the answer to solving the 'riddle' as to why Edinburgh is one of the most congested cities in the UK. We need a congestion charge, and more segregated bus lanes! www.heraldscotland.com/news/2520571...
What would it take to make Edinburgh buses faster? Fewer bus stops
The buses in Edinburgh are slow. Could it be down to the number of bus stops? Or are better bus lanes and congestion measures the key?

Wow, to think the UK could do more than simply raise interest rates even higher or impose austerity 2.0 to battle inflation. Instead, they could actually control rents, tax big companies and lay out a clear plan to the public. Who would have thought it!
There was an alternative to landing on the graveyard of incumbent governments in the wake of inflation. Mexico and Spain have demonstrated to the world how stabilizing the prices of essentials can pay back - economically and politically.
