There are colored transparent labels that can go over existing spine labels. That is what one of the HS in my district did. It looks really nice.
I don’t but my PTA might. Or I might have to buy some.
I got my Scholastic Book Fair delivered today. We open on Monday. I got 3 registers and no cash drawers. When I contacted them I was told that happens often and they need other fairs returned first. I am now trying to brainstorm how to run Book Fair without the cash drawers. #SchoolLibrarians
We are watching Scholastic Book Fair trailers this weekend and I am SO proud of my 4th- 6th grade students recognizing and questioning whether they are AI. #SchoolLibrarians #Skybrarians
This is low key brilliant. I’m in.
Okay new idea for a library service: leave a hobby take a hobby. When people get bored with a hobby they can come and leave their supplies and books and half-finished things, and exchange them for someone else’s supplies and books and half-finished things. Hobby swap.

Yes! Show me your true self. Let's make it safe to be vulnerable and weird with each other.

I have embraces 6-7 with my students. Can’t beat them then join them.
My 5th and 6th grade classes I showed them how to create folders in Office365 and we created fun personal folders called 6 7 stuff. My 3rd graders I was teaching Word and we wrote 6 7 poems.
Good luck! I’m not there but sending you 😎
What are other School Librarians teaching as far as AI goes?
My lessons have been about knowing it exists, how to fact check it, the pros and cons, environmental impact, copyright and intellectual impacts.
We are trying to come up with a district set of lessons/standards and it is going to be challenging not spending months just teaching AI.
We had a district school librarian meeting on Friday and we talked about how we were teaching AI. It was interesting the variety of approaches - From not at all, to using it for creative artistic purposes, to teaching how to use it for editing and improving work . I focus on recognizing it 🧵
I really love all the #SchoolHouseRock ads. Can we update them and bring them back? Create new ones, build on their legacy?

When you have 6th grade class then 1st grade class and it is a game day and 1st graders play their own version of chess. It was a great game and well thought out. #SchoolLibrarian #Skybrarians
Same! Along with I don’t need to tape. I can paint the edges without making a mistake.
My #ADBook I loved this week is Hemlock&Silver by T. Kingfisher. A Snow White twisted retelling that is told from the perspective of a poison and cure obsessed healer that the king recruits to cure Snow. 📚💙 #FantasyBook I have loved every book from this author.
This book will definitely win awards this year.
Will and his family are sharecroppers. His father and grandfather were slaves freed after the Civil War. They hear about the Oklahoma land rush and decide to try for their own land.
Their adventures and trials as they head to Oklahoma are harrowing and keep the reader engaged.
Another award prediction is Will’s Race for Home by Jewell Parker Rhodes. #MGBook Historical Fiction about a the Oklahoma land rush. It is always good to get new perspectives on history we don’t hear as much about. #Kidlit #SchoolLibrarians #Skybrarians #Edusky 📚💙
I asked 3 classes today and all said they barely remember homeschool/zoom school/unschool. Some remember older siblings doing it but they were too little. I am conducting a new library survey with all my 4th-6th graders to see if they agree now.
At what point does realistic become historical?
I was asking my students where to put this book and they said Historical Fiction because Covid is historical now.
I asked another class they were unanimous it should be historical because of Covid. They said everyone after them that reads it won’t remember Covid times and remote school.
I just finished The Trouble with Heroes by Kate Messner and I am😭A #MGBook #KitLit #NovelInVerse that deserves all the awards this year. #Skybratians #SchoolLibrarians if you haven’t ordered it yet be sure to add it.
Kindergarten classes this year are brutal - we have the normal beginning of the year runny nose/cough running through every class, but at the same time we have lice and hand foot and mouth disease.🦠 The custodians and kindy teachers are exhausted. I feel like I need to disinfect the library.🤢🤞
Oreos for dinner can be healthy right? Right?
