Rio Ferdinand is going to be in demand to do the seating plan at weddings. "No, Panama can't sit next to Uruguay because Panama borrowed Uruguay's best china in 1988 and smashed the milk jug. And don't, whatever you do, seat Brazil next to Sweden, not after the new year's samba incident."

Watching the New Yorker magazine centenary documentary and thinking: I didn't realise the New Yorker began in the Victorian times, before I realised. I keep forgetting about the last 25 years.

I don't know why i like these tales so much (an innate sense of schadenfreude, perhaps) but since Crapland UK quit twitter, there's been no-one to detail them, so am happy to read this breakdown of Angry Dad Punches Elf stories since 2008. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
‘Look what you’ve done to my children!’: a tale of winter wonderland disasters
These events are meant to make Christmas magical, and while many do, a few fall spectacularly short. Here, in no particular order, are some of the worst offenders

So, nothing on TV until Xmas then*:

* I've already virtually circled Amandaland, Mandy, the Mark Gatiss one, and The Night Manager in my virtual Radio Times.

I put it to you that Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” is not merely the worst Christmas song but is also in fact the worst song in the history of recorded sound.

Today I am mostly mad at a fancy gastropub lauded by the Michelin guide, the Guardian, 4.4* on google and so on, for taking almost 3 months to pay an invoice for salad.

Someone I was BFFs with at primary school, but whom I've not seen since 1986, just sent me this.

Just washed up after lunch for 10 people at work with no hot water. There’s been no hot water for almost a year now because Hackney council, who owns the building, refuse to admit the boiler exists. They refuse to admit the boiler exists as they did an inventory and missed the hot water boiler.

Reading about Schopenhauer on my lunch break: "This world of constantly needy creatures [...] pass their existence in anxiety and want, and often endure terrible afflictions, until they fall at last into the arms of death." But at least it's almost the weekend! www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Schopenhauer has long held the title of gloomiest philosopher in history. He sees human existence not as grand tragedy...

There's some filming going on on our road; the Boyf spoke to one of the crew yesterday and they said it was called Everybody. I googled "Everybody film set in London" and got this www.screendaily.com/news/taron-e... No sign of Taron Egerton yet, although I keep peeking out of the window.

I stole this idea from @seanedmund.bsky.social - a playlist of songs from each Now That's What I Call Music album (I only did the first 50 as I was struggling to recognise the bands by the end). Anyway, 50 songs, 50 artists, 38 years, now that's what i call musique: open.spotify.com/playlist/52M...
