It has rained almost every day since the beginning of 2026. It has meant that I am spending a lot more time in the studio than I might otherwise be. Which is good because the changes made, both involuntary and voluntary, required me to spend time reconfiguring things, and also learning to make the new/old things effective. Which may be reflected in this show, which is using quite a few of the new bits, as well as the reconfigured old bits I haven't used in forever.

For many in the Northern Hemisphere it's cold, grey, and dismal. We might not be able to visit warmer climes right now, but with Around the Campfire you can escape to the beach today, even if it's only musically.

Today I'll be coming back to the Kahvi Archive, as there is so much fun stuff I've yet to play!  Like my other shows, this is improv so I have no idea how it will turn out until it happens.

This week I'll be highlighting several works from the new Cyclical Dreams release by Small Chief, Zero Movement. It's got some absolutely beautiful and subtly pulsing atmospheres. I'll be playing several tracks from the release and, inspired by the music, will be playing music of a generally more subdued nature. Hear how sequences can create warm and pulsing sound worlds.

Unfortunately, your favorite space music DJ, Tony Gerber, is having some post winter storm technical issues (no electricity or heat!) and will not be available to take us to space tonight (Thursday, Jan. 26, 2026). The ʞu¡0ɹʞS household has taken refuge outside the worst of it, but we know that some others of the RadioSpiral family are stuck in it. So today's program is all about the ice, and we're keeping good thoughts about all the folks stuck in the cold.

In small bits, the studio changes. Some of the changes are a little sad, and some are happy changes, and some I'm just taking a punt and seeing what happens. I guess it's a little sad that the Procussion died for real, I might be able to fix it, but really I'm already substituting it, 32 year old drum sounds are kinda 90s aren't they.
