The cycle begins again, in more ways than one. We're quickly running out of year, swinging our way around the Sun for another orbit. That cycle is pretty well known and many of us, at least many of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere, think of the Winter Solstice as significant. Significant enough for multiple religions and non-religions to think so, anyway.

In the dark months, when the leaves have fallen and the world has faded to browns and greys, that's when the work of growing happens. The trees and plants are resting above ground... but roots deep underground are doing the work of growing, reaching toward new soil and gathering strength for the spring. So, too, should we.
