I‘m in the @germnetwork.com beta now, but not sure whether I know anybody else using it. Feel free to germinate?!

(Also, as a non native speaker, when does one use anybody vs. somebody? Anybody?)

Looking forward to #EuroskyLive @eurosky.social! Working overtime to have a small POC ready by then. Just in case somebody asks.

Hmmm, I would have guessed Cosine Similarity to be a better lead to a user’s typical post than Euclidean Distance (using their average post embedding as a starting point) but the latter yields better results right now, especially after disabling normalization. CS just discovers the shortest posts. 🤷

anybody else have a weird social media issue where you want to follow people cause you want to be mutuals and be like "hey this guy is cool" but you don't actually wanna read their posts? or vice versa where you want to follow their posts but you dont follow lest it be construed as an endorsement?

Enough TODOs for a lifetime. Excluding planned media consumption, which is another lifetime.

I finally have all moving parts running. PLC sync, PDS sync, spam/bridge/etc. filter, Firehose sync, language detection and embedder. Took me more than a month😅, but now I can start building (hopefully) useful stuff. My previous implementation has been very, very naive. #ATproto

Rust is doing quite some damage to the Go ecosystem. I hope they will all come back someday.

50 DUMME FRAGEN AN RUDI BACHMANN

Decided to "manually" rewrite some core stuff I vibe coded before, since I seem to need it to build the mental model. Feels like making real progress. May just be my inner boomer shouting at the clouds.

I ran the below experiment for two weeks. The results at the user-level metrics are mostly neutral.

Slightly fewer users were pressing "less like this": -1.4% (not statistically significant)

Random fun Death Note trivia- I recognize all of L's computer hardware, a fun authentic time capsule. He uses an Apple Studio Display monitor, Apple Optical Pro mouse, and PowerMac G4 MDD model, all authentically from ~2002ish. It is also mildly amusing that L is a Mac and Light is a PC.
