Rutte was right: currently Europe will struggle to mount a credible deterrence strategy or defend itself when deterrence fails. Europe is still too dependent on US strategic enablers (air defence, long range strike, SEAD, EW, AAR etc), leadership and its nuclear deterrent. However....
