If you consider random NPC dialogue "boring and unimportant" and you're okay with relegating that to gen AI, frankly I can't trust that the rest of your narrative is any good either.

me putting my hands on the shoulders of every artist and gripping. learn how the pipeline works. learn what you'd hand off to other teams. practice good file hygiene. being a good artist is only half the battle, games is a team sport.
My biggest piece of advice for someone who is looking to get INTO the games industry ( from the pov of an env artist ) is to make a beautiful corner!! Even if you want to specialize, learning how the pipeline works and knowing how every part of it works together will only make you stronger!!

This this this. I started my gamedev journey doing jams, learning A LOT of valuable lessons that have continued to serve me well now that I'm working with much larger teams and timelines.
If you want to start making games, instead of trying to make your magnum opus on your first go, please do some game jams. Ludum Dare. Something short with a fixed time limit and specs you need to follow. Learn about developing under restrictions, how to get creative in them, how to scope smartly.
