Hilariously, I don't think that was one of the buildings with many ghost sightings.

(I lived in my school's ostensibly most haunted building for 2 years + had 0 run-ins with anything weird, because…if ghosts exist, I reckon they operate on "You don't bother them; they don't bother you." Like bees!)

When I was in uni, I spent a fair bit of time in the music building despite not being a Music major or minor (voice lessons, access to recording spaces, etc).

Lovely building! Near and dear to me!

…also felt *super* weird + confusing to navigate if you were in one of 4 identical hallways at night!

As someone who genuinely finds Gothic architecture "cozy," there's much to be said for "All the little nooks are comforting—but the shadows on the walls *do* look a bit odd at times."

The "friction" exists in real-world spaces, so games that don't suppress it read as more honest than those that do.

i think the (false) paradox of "the cozy game" is that it's far more memorable when there are elements of weirdness / unknowns / uncertainty in the world to it, like how early animal crossing neighbours were kinda mean sometimes and sims 1 is sorta creepy sometimes. the friction of consciousness

...it also has a really juvenile "architecture" joke that I think of whenever faced by "Can we [as a writing/editing team] get away with this?" because the answer is almost always "Yes, as long as it's tonally cohesive."

I've said this before, but kid-me would've lost their MIND if someone had explained that this game would one day exist. It hits an absurdly specific cross-section of Things I Love.

My being in the voice cast is a non-factor in my enjoyment of it.

Also… "Kamran keeps his face off the Internet and still has a robust career" has legitimately gotten a couple of pals out of "I'd rather keep my face to myself, but..." dread-spirals before, because you're proof practical that it's both possible + not actually "weird" to want that layer of privacy.

I think "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" exemplifies American culture more than any other art piece.

Most cultures' folklore involves cautionary tales warning people not to tempt the devil.

The American version has the challenger win because he is way cooler than the devil.

The other thing is that making your IRL-you into a product...makes it cease to be your real-life self. It's just yet another vector of "marketing," and I really don't like that.

Acting is living truthfully in imaginary circumstances. Making yourself the product is…living inauthentically in reality.
