Even on hugely popular games with 95%+ Steam user review scores, you will almost always see some interminable, essay-length negative rant flagged as the 'most useful' and put front and center on the store page.

Part of it is Steam's upvoting system being busted. Part is human nature being stupid.
One negative review killed Pendragon. It was posted within hours of release: a detailed "objective" explanation of why they didn't connect with it.

But it's ticked as helpful by passing people *who have not played the game*. This keeps it pinned to the top.

It's longer than our description text.
RE that RT.. it’s wild how steam reviews are still so damn important to getting visibility. If you play and like indie games, the most generous and helpful thing you can do is spend an hour popping positive reviews onto anything you like with <500 or so reviews.

My eternal battle with imposter syndrome?

A look at the many projects I'm part of?

Somewhat scatterbrained and manic shout-outs?

We've got them all 👀

I'm playing a fun little golf physics puzzler called Puttler. Did not expect this prompt to hit so hard.

Ending the day with Wonderman. Loving it! A few eps in, but oof, I don't think I was ready for a show to start digging in about creative careers.

Midway through doing to dishes and it struck me the victim was an eSports athlete...but whenever they showed the game it was about doing quests.

I'm only forgiving it because it's High Potential and the entire show is a delight.
Heck yeah High Potential is doing an eSports episode.

This is how lore works.
I feel @tolkoto.com did a great job explaining Highguard lore to @grubb.wtf on Nintendogs!

Opened up AGS for the first time in years, to try some ideas out. Main character currently looks like this, because I'm a writer and not a pixel artist.

Rolled credits on TR-49. Had such a good time with it. Some very clever puzzles that were rewarding to solve.

Really recommended.

Unvarnished truth. This is the one area where I give a crap about games being taken seriously ‘as an artform’.. because as it stands, funds are limited, and frankly select for charlatans.

If you’re unwilling to lie about a 10x return, you’re fucked. So liars get funded
The UK videogames sector seems to be facing a duality:

On one hand, it is trying to convince investors that it's a high-growth, low-risk sector so that it raises financing.

On the other hand, it is trying to convince government that it's suffering from market failure, so it receives funding. 1/9

A new tool for using Dink ( and extension for Ink for dialogue). Solves a lot of pipeline issues. Even if you're not using Ink it's worth poking around for ideas for your own tools.

Huh this is interesting, a game's hint system is failing because people don't know how to write e-mails anymore.
