Also… "Kamran keeps his face off the Internet and still has a robust career" has legitimately gotten a couple of pals out of "I'd rather keep my face to myself, but..." dread-spirals before, because you're proof practical that it's both possible + not actually "weird" to want that layer of privacy.

For what it's worth, my mental image of you is genuinely just your profile picture. Even if I were to see your face/you changed the image, I'm pretty sure the stone nutcracker(?) would stick around.

I think "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" exemplifies American culture more than any other art piece.

Most cultures' folklore involves cautionary tales warning people not to tempt the devil.

The American version has the challenger win because he is way cooler than the devil.

The other thing is that making your IRL-you into a product...makes it cease to be your real-life self. It's just yet another vector of "marketing," and I really don't like that.

Acting is living truthfully in imaginary circumstances. Making yourself the product is…living inauthentically in reality.

The English dub of season 2 and 3 of Gintama dropped on Hulu. You can hear me ALL over as various characters and voices, but mainly you can hear me as the best hunter in the mountains Morinosuke, and the assassin and former Odd Jobs member Kanemaru!

It's the classic (exaggerating for comedic effect, but not by as much as I'd like) "We've got [1 AMAB trans actor and 1 AFAB trans actor], so that's all we need!" that drives me up a wall, because it's just…blisteringly uncreative. 😭

It's because we're generally underemployed/seen as a "hazard" to cast, esp. if we don't sound cis in our natural print.

If you see folks who *are* being cast in big games: note how many are openly 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️/don't visually conform to their AGAB.

Slightly tangential, but…this makes me think back on when a game released, folks were calling [character] a "cringey femboy," only to FRANTICALLY backtrack once they played more of it/learned he's 🏳️‍⚧️/"Wait, I didn't mean it in a transphobic way—"

You can't be cruel and apologetic in the same breath.

I have been saying for a few years now that people really need to take a seriously long look at the center of that venn diagram where the circles are marked "AI Culture" and "Disregard For/Violation Of Consent." The whole "AI Actress" situation is more of why.
