Lots of editing jobs on at the moment, including a fast-paced series following a soldier through the Napoleonic Wars.

Absolutely love getting to help authors polish their babies up and send them out into the world.

Back to school. This one feels like a sea change moment, as one baby goes into the last year of regular school and the other doesn’t go back at all. But we all did very well, no tears from any of us… yet.

Over the moon the other day to find out one of our favourite clients was interviewed for Good Housekeeping about her experience of self-publishing (spoiler: she loves it)

Reading this week’s Bookseller - so many comments about authors’ TikTok or Insta presence/followers/views.

Are authors getting a platform for their books, or getting books because of their platforms? I suspect a bit of both but it shows how important it is to build that platform, either way.

Well that’s a weird day.

Started by packing husband off to garage to sort out flat tyre.

Then I went out to rescue dad after he had a car bump.

Just got in the house and we’ve had a delivery from Amazon, addressed to “Bec’s Andrew” and it’s literally just a small square of foam. Baffled!!

Pretty chuffed that now I can touch my toes with my legs straight (never, ever been able to do that) and I can now hold a plank position. Not for long, but it’s there…

So post Christmas weekly weigh: lost 3lb this week! And I’m now at a stone and a half off exactly in 7 weeks. Not feeling deprived or missing out even slightly.

I am so so happy.

First couple of days on mounjaro 5mg - initially expected more appetite suppression…until I got to mid afternoon yesterday and realised that I’d eaten less without realising and still felt like I’d had 3 massive takeaways 🤪
December 15, 2024 at 9:58 AM
First dose of 5mg in tonight. See how I feel tomorrow!

Weigh day today, stayed the same (well, a quarter lb down on last week 🤷‍♀️). Tonight first dose of 5mg. Funnily enough, although I didn’t lose anything in lbs or inches this week, I feel better.

So I have my 1-month review bloods back…

*drum roll*

MY LIVER TESTS ARE NORMAL!!

Down in Cambridge overnight as my boy has uni interview. So first encounter with a breakfast buffet on mounjaro - ended up eating half a small pastry, a little fruit and one bite of sausage lol. Unfamiliar territory!

So am now on Week 3, Day 6 of mounjaro and last night I added in my first gym visit too. All good habits hopefully stacking up.

I will admit I’m looking forward to going up a dose after tomorrow’s last jab of 2.5mg.

Drumroll… just under 4 weeks gone and I have now lost 1 stone!

I am also now, according to the NHS BMI thingy, overweight not obese.

I am so so happy right now. And so will my diabetic nurse be! #mounjaro

Today is Jab day 3; so in the last two weeks since being on Mounjaro I have:

Lost 4lb each week
Dropped below 13st
Felt few side negative effects and become much more conscious of what I’m eating and how much (despite a genuinely crazy week)
November 29, 2024 at 8:42 AM
Day after 2nd mounjaro jab and we ended up having to get a pizza and eat super late (because LIFE) and I just…stopped eating.

I have never been able to do that. Pizza is there: pizza is eaten. Tonight I left over half my normal portion.

So I am now on a potentially controversial path. I have T2 diabetes & other weight-related health problems; long story short, I’ve just taken my 2nd dose of the Mounjaro injection.

So far I am genuinely loving it and feel the benefits already, even on the starting dose - 4lb off in my first week.

Melting chocolate WITH water against every instinct turned into practically effortless chocolate mousse thanks to Bee Wilson’s The Secret Of Cooking. And I added a drop of orange extract to the water, so chocolate orange mousse 😋

Apple harvest is in - first year we’ve had so many, I’m well chuffed. Crucial question now - pie or crumble??

You know winter is here when you have to call out the boiler man. Sigh.

Almost crying this morning as my bed bound mum told me that the new nurse practitioner who visited her actually understood her pain and wanted to help. I can’t express what that means.
