I've noticed that a lot of older game developers are prone to fall for the allure of new technology, be it AI, NFTs, etc. They want to be 'with it', to be on the cutting edge, to be just as ground breaking as when they were young. But it only ends up giving them more granpa energy, funnily enough.

Long story short: the people who are 'making' these dubs probably hate it just as much as we do, but they don't have any choice.
If they want to keep their job (and in this economy, and the only way to have health insurance being through your job, they do!) they have to do as they're told.
