Yeah that's fair. Depending on the game you might run into issues, but for the most part unless a game has DRM Proton is pretty good at making games run. There's a pretty good resource to help get games running if you do want to give it another shot though! www.protondb.com

Just out of curiosity what games were you trying to run? I've been using Mint for a couple of years now and I haven't had too many issues with gaming on Linux (though that might also be because I play really old shit lmao)
