I’ve watched pro football my entire life. When did “in the MVP conversation” enter the vernacular? Listen, I’m happy if my QB or RB is having a great year, but if Jalen Hurts ends up with two or three SB trophies and no regular season MVPs, I’m good for the next decade.

Not The Onion.
Column: With Thanksgiving coming up, you may have noticed online posts about whether it's okay to charge guests for dinner.
It's part of a larger trend that, depending on your point of view, is either a major breach of etiquette or simply pragmatic.

Column | I’m on a budget but I want to host Thanksgiving dinner. Can I charge guests?
The trend of transferring financial responsibility from the host to the guest is turning fellowship into a monetary affair.

I’d suggest taking a shot every time he says “affordability” (his new buzzword because Mamdani said it), but I’m afraid we’d all die.
Is this booming economy in the room with you now, Mr. President, sir?

FOOD COURT!
If the sub didn’t split, you must acquit!
Defense begins, “This case, ladies and gentlemen, is about a sandwich. A sandwich that according to Agent Lairmore somehow both exploded on his chest in a spray of mustard and onions but also landed intact on the ground still in its Subway wrapper.”

One of my fave theatrical experiences was seeing PHANTASM, unannounced, at a horror marathon.
PHANTASM (1979) is a real treat of a horror movie where ambition outstrips technical ability. It's so ambitious and weird and wild, and so clearly made by people who have seem SUSPIRIA precisely once and have no idea how to make a movie. I think I love it?

Today we salute the unsung sandwich hero—the meat slicer! On this date in 1873, Anthony Iske of Lancaster, PA received patent 144,206 for improvements in machines for slicing dried beef. Next time you bite into a perfectly layered turkey sandwich, give a nod to the guy who made it possible. #FoodSky

Post-golf visit to Essex (MD) Diner. Took me five seconds to pick two eggs over easy, pork roll, and hash browns from the laminated 20-page menu. A stream of locals came in for a bite and the woman in the booth behind us spent a good chunk of time explaining daily fantasy sports to her companion. 👍

I remember the outrage when Philly put mounted police on the outskirts of the field in 1980 and people were mortified.
Cops going aggro on Sunset near Echo Park in LA after the Dodgers Win. Shooting people with less lethals from point blank range, horses running people and press down. Literally minutes before, fireworks in the street

1989? Don’t Tell A Soul, yet another underrated fave from The Replacements. But go for the Dead Man’s Pop version. In fact, I think I’ll give it a listen right now.
