The government may be shut down, but my office is still open and working hard for the people of Illinois' 11th District. As of this October, my office has returned $3,248,511.35 to constituents and resolved 653 cases involving federal agencies.

Trump's not using the National Guard in Illinois to stop violent crime—he's trying to create chaos as he pulls off another authoritarian power grab. It's unconstitutional and un-American.

Deploying the National Guard is authoritarian and a waste of federal resources.

If Trump was serious about protecting our communities, he would be investing in real solutions to violent crime—not exploiting service members.

People in Illinois will not be intimidated and we will not back down.

Members of the Illinois delegation were scheduled to meet with an ICE Chicago field office director on Friday but were told the meeting had to be rescheduled to a later date.

This week, I joined my Illinois colleagues in demanding answers from DHS about "Operation Midway Blitz," including reports of poor conditions at the Broadview processing facility. It's unacceptable that DHS and ICE continue to spread fear in our communities and dodge congressional oversight. (1/2)
