For the third week in a row, the Speaker has cancelled votes.

House Democrats are ready to get back to work for the American people- reopening the government and stopping the shutdown of health care for 24 million Americans. Why won’t House Republicans end their 21-day paid vacation and join us?

Without federal action, this Pennie enrollment season, people across PA will see their health insurance premiums skyrocket!

This crisis can’t wait. With only a few weeks until open enrollment begins on Nov. 1, Congress must act now!

The GOP's priorities could not be clearer: help the rich get richer, at the expensive of hard-working Americans.

ACA Open Enrollment starts on Nov. 1 and we are ALREADY seeing health care premiums skyrocket. But where’s the same sense of urgency from Republicans on this issue?
Tweet from Arthur Delaney: An awkward thing for Speaker Johnson's line about how Premium Tax Credits are "a December policy issue" is that the TCJA tax cuts were expiring at the same time as the PTCs but they urgently rushed to make the TCJA tax cuts permanent in July, saying America needed certainty

👀🔍 None of Pennsylvania's 10 GOP congressmen seem to be mentioned in these stories about some House Republicans calling on Speaker Johnson to end their 21-day paid vacation – but if you’ve seen these types of comments from them, please share!

Immigrant workers play a critical part in our food supply.

Trump's indiscriminate, abusive raids and deportations, alongside his reckless tariff-taxes, are driving up food prices for all. But, as I always say, that only matters to Americans who eat food!
Trump Labor Department Says His Immigration Raids Are Causing a Food Crisis
In a filing in the Federal Register, the Labor Department argues there are “immediate dangers to the American food supply” due to a lack of migrant agricultural workers.

I rallied this week with @phillyaflcio.bsky.social and AFGE with a message for congressional Republicans- we must work together to end this government shutdown AND the looming shutdown of health care for 24 million Americans.

Can Speaker Johnson read a calendar? It’s Oct. 9. ACA Open Enrollment starts Nov. 1.

This isn’t a Dec. 31 policy issue. Hard-working Americans across the country are ALREADY getting notified of massive premium increases, thanks to Republicans’ inaction.

Mike Johnson: "It's about keeping Congress operating so we can get to healthcare. We always were going to. They're lying to you. Okay? The healthcare issues were always gonna be something discussed, deliberated, contemplated, and debated in October and November."

It’s Day 8 of the government shutdown, and Day 19 of NO votes in the House!

While Speaker Johnson is still making excuses about not bringing the House back to work- the shutdown of health care looms for 24 million Americans whose premiums will DOUBLE, with open enrollment fast approaching.
Tweet from Jake Sherman: Asked if he’ll bring the house back next week, Johnson said “we’ve already done our job”

Air traffic controllers were already facing severe staffing shortages, especially after Trump’s reckless firings earlier this year. But soon, they will start missing paychecks.

The GOP created this crisis- but they would rather take a paid vacation – 19 days so far! - than get back to work.

During this #GOPShutdown, our servicemembers, TSA officers, air traffic controllers, and others are working unpaid.

But a $20 BILLION bailout for this Trump right-wing foreign ally was made "essential."

This year, 3 representatives-elect were sworn in less than 24 hours after their special elections. It’s been TWO WEEKS.

I proudly joined my House Democratic colleagues in calling on Speaker Johnson to swear in Rep.-elect Grijalva as soon as possible.

Open enrollment starts soon, and my constituents can’t wait to find out if the GOP, who have total control of Washington, will extend the tax credits that make their health care coverage affordable.

If you're already seeing your premiums rise, I want to hear from you!
If Republicans let Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, a family of four in PA-03 making $64,000 will see their annual premiums rise by 327% If Republicans let Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, a 60-year-old couple in PA-03 making $82,800 will see their annual premiums rise by $11,485

Our dedicated federal workers should NOT be used as political pawns!

Let’s be clear: it’s against the law to deny federal workers back pay after a shutdown.

Trump should know- he signed the law after he last shut down the federal government.
Screenshot from Washington Post article. Text reads: Administration officials hope the memo will maximize Republicans’ leverage in shutdown negotiations with Democrats, according to two people familiar with internal talks, both speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. Trump and Vice President JD Vance have threatened imminent mass layoffs of federal employees — from arms of the federal government that Trump called “Democrat agencies” — but have yet to carry out the firings.

Good to see a shift in WORDS from congressional Republicans – now let’s see ACTIONS.

The GOP must end their vacation, bring the House back to Washington, and work with us to stop the shutdown of health care that’s looming for 24 million Americans.

Democrats have BEEN ready to get to work.

Philadelphians are seeing higher prices at coffee shops and grocery stores when grabbing their morning brew. ☕️

A big reason why: Trump's reckless tariffs - and congressional Republicans’ refusals to take back Congress' tariff power. #Trumpflation

Is this what it means for Republicans to work around the clock to "fix" health care?
repdwightevans.bsky.social
Two simple truths:
1. Without federal action, starting this fall, millions of Americans will see their health premiums DOUBLE.
2. Speaker Johnson is refusing to swear in Rep.-elect Grijalva, the 218th & final signer needed to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files.

But now they won’t change their rules to reopen the government. Let’s be clear- this is a GOP shutdown.
