Our immigration system is broken and hasn’t been meaningfully updated in decades.

That’s why today I introduced a comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform bill known as the Dignity Act.

Instead of prioritizing and uplifting the most vulnerable Americans, Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill ripped away $187 billion in funding for SNAP to partially pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.

For hours this morning, survivors stood on the steps of the Capitol and begged Congress to do the right thing for the young women and girls who were silenced by the very institutions meant to protect them.

Today, I voted yes to release the Epstein files because survivors deserve nothing less.

UTEP’s embrace of right-wing politics in the last few years has been alarming and is unreflective of El Paso. As a loving, welcoming community, the invitation of Tom Homan is contrary to the values most El Pasoans hold dear.

Step 1: Implement tariffs (aka taxes)

Step 2: Realize this raised the cost of living and is the opposite of what you promised and they (among many, many other things) have made you unpopular

Step 3 (we are here): Begin reversing tariffs

Step 4: cross fingers prices come down and take credit

Last week, federal courts reaffirmed what we knew to be true: withholding SNAP funding is illegal.

It should never have taken the courts to require the Trump administration to act and prevent millions of Americans and thousands of El Pasoans from going hungry.

Millions of Americans, including thousands of El Pasoans, will be going hungry starting tomorrow because the president is choosing not to use $6 billion in available emergency SNAP funding.

Instead, his focus is on his White House renovations.

The Trump administration has always had food assistance for hungry Americans on their target list.

Their “One Big Beautiful Bill” slashes $186 billion next year.

But the cuts coming next week are a CHOICE Trump and Republicans are making.
