State Rep. from Racine, WI.
Assembly Democratic Leader.
Believer in people and the power of social movements. ⚡️
Preventing new moms from accessing a full year of postpartum healthcare is just wrong. Wisconsin remains one of the last two states that have failed to pass this measure, as Republican leadership continues to block it.

As many of you know, data center proposals and projects are coming to Wisconsin. People are raising really valid concerns about these projects and their impact on our communities.

That’s why I’ve co-authored a bill to increase accountability and transparency for these projects.

Republicans continue to prove how disconnected they are from what people really need. Wisconsinites don’t want to close school buildings, break up communities, force their kids to ride the bus for hours a day, or lose their sports teams.

Don’t close our schools. Fund them.

Expanding postpartum coverage is a popular and bipartisan idea, but Assembly Republicans have blocked move after move to pass this bill.

73 legislators on both sides of the aisle have signed on to Senate Bill 23, including 29 Assembly Republicans.

The federal government shutdown is nearing its end, but people’s costs are going to continue to go up.

Everyone deserves access to affordable healthcare! Keep reaching out to your congressional representatives and tell them to extend the ACA tax credits.

We know that way too many people are struggling to make ends meet, and Donald Trump is perfectly content to watch them suffer.

We must stay focused on delivering for our folks, and we must not be bullied by our President.

Happy Veterans Day!

It was a privilege to join Tom Friedel, veteran and Vice President of Racine Area Veterans Inc., at today’s Veterans Day Ceremony.

Today and beyond, we recognize the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans.

I had a great time chatting with high school students today at Racine Unified’s See Your Future Expo at Park High School. I am always impressed by our students’ thoughtful questions and feedback about the issues that are most important to them.

I’m grateful to @upnorthnewswi.bsky.social for giving me the opportunity to share how Legislative Democrats have been stepping in for Wisconsinites during Trump’s government shutdown.

Full FoodShare payments should be made to nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites who depend on them. FoodShare members should see the full November amount on their QUEST card.

Folks can check their benefit balances by calling 877-415-5164.

We know partially funding SNAP benefits through November does not go far enough. Many Wisconsinites will still face difficulty accessing the food they need.

We’ve been on the ground working with local food banks and other community organizations to support our neighbors in need.

Targeting Planned Parenthood was a harmful attempt by Trump to take away healthcare and reproductive services from people. I’m grateful services resumed and Wisconsinites will again have access to essential care.

Kids, families and elderly people will go hungry if they don't get their SNAP benefits this week.

The Trump Administration must abide by this ruling and direct the USDA to immediately begin processing November benefits for people across the country.

All across Wisconsin, @wiassemblydems and @wisenatedemocrats are on the ground, organizing to help our neighbors during this crisis.

Wisconsinites will see a major spike in the cost of their health care coverage if the Affordable Care Act tax credits are not extended. And this is no accident — Trump and Congressional Republicans intentionally cut these subsidies earlier this year.
See how this could impact you and folks across our state. ⬇️

BREAKING: According to new data from the Wisconsin OCI, if Republicans fail to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits, Wisconsinites are going to pay hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands more dollars a year for their healthcare coverage.

This is really bad, folks.

It is simply cruel that the federal government would allow nearly 270,000 children across our state - 14,000 of them in Racine County - to lose access to food assistance.

For too long our veterans have been left behind. It’s time Wisconsin lived up to its promise to those who served.

Earlier this fall, two veterans homes in Chippewa Falls and Green Bay were forced to close because Legislative Republicans failed to fund them.

More than 700,000 people in our state will lose access to critical food assistance through FoodShare next month due to the ongoing government shutdown. As Wisconsinites worry about where their next meal will come from, Trump prepares a $250 million ballroom renovation.

Ensuring our kids' safety at school is a top priority for me. It is our responsibility as legislators to take questions or concerns about the handling of cases of misconduct in our public schools extremely seriously and make any changes to state law necessary to keep our kids safe.

I want people to know where they can go to find food assistance while the shutdown affects the FoodShare program.
