America’s Housing Crisis, in One Chart -
We want a thriving community, but no one can do well w/o a home. And we simply aren’t building enough.

We must tare down local barriers to build. Our Yes to Homes bill in MN will help with that. Fed support is also welcome

Words matter. The rise in violent speech has consequences. as we painfully experienced w/ Melissa & Mark Hortmans' assassination.

Trump's threats of political violence towards Dem lawmakers for criticizing his admin. are dangerous. Such words are antidemocratic, unacceptable, & must be denounced.

Climate change may seem like a distant, future issue, but it's an:
- affordability
- housing
- homelessness
issue, TODAY.

The more we push off climate mitigation and resilience actions, the more expensive in $, health, & quality of life it will be for all.

Nearly one in three kindergarteners in Minnesota relies on SNAP. We need President Trump to release the emergency contingency funds $$$ now.

The USDA has funding set aside to keep food assistance programs running during emergencies.

Trump just won’t release it.

440,000 Minnesotans - and millions more Americans - will pay the price.

I joined a coalition of Minnesota DFL legislators in sending a letter to President Donald Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, strongly encouraging the Administration to release available funds so that SNAP benefits are not interrupted come November.

Thanks to @mnseia.bsky.social for inviting @zaynebmohamed.bsky.social & me to talk about clean energy at the Gateway to Solar conference!

Loved diving into clean energy funding, land use efficiency, agrivoltaics, & history of the nuclear moratorium deal with MN’s tribal nations.

The heat will soon be on at 100s of MN homes thanks to union pipefitters & members of the MN Mechanical Contractors Assn! These “Heat’s On” event volunteers are up early to provide those in need w/ furnace repairs. Thanks for letting @emmagreenman.bsky.social & I join you to kick off today!

Trump just canceled $464M in clean energy grants for Minnesota, threatening key transmission projects and driving up costs for northern Minnesota families.

Sen. Hauschild is calling Rep. Stauber to demand these partisan cuts be reversed. Minnesotans shouldn’t pay the price for Washington’s games.

The Federal Dept. of Justice is suing MN for our voter roles, under the guise of rooting out non-citizen voters.

But in state after state, investigations into non-citizen voting show how rare such occurrences are.

Most recently from GOP Secretary of State Landry in Louisiana, said, "I want ...1/2

It's not ok to:

->Raid our communities
->Disappear ppl
->Deny due process

Videos of ICE kidnapping ppl off the streets are sickening. Such tactics were used 90 years ago in Germany to instill fear & for a dictator to seize power.

To stop it, we must push back. Join in on 10/18 www.nokings.org

Reminder: GOP has the majority of the:

US House
US Senate
And they hold the White House.

It is entirely within their power to listen to the American people, actually provide the services Americans want, stop giveaways to billionaires, and prevent a federal government shutdown.

🚨BIG NEWS:🚨

Minnesota Democrats just unveiled our proposal for a possible special session. Our plan would:

✅Ban assault weapons
✅Ban high-capacity magazines
✅Ban binary triggers
✅Implement 'safe storage' rules
✅Ban untraceable 'ghost guns'
✅Strengthen MN's red flag law
September 30, 2025 at 6:01 PM
The DFL is ready to take real action against gun violence.
The DFL special session offer includes taking meaningful action on guns.

Eliminating weapons of war and high capacity magazines will make MN safer.

Is the GOP willing to take the vote and show MN where they stand?

Democrats are ready to act and Minnesotans want action.

Trump doesn't care about ppl needing Medicaid.

He also doesn't care to have great docs from around the world treating American patients.

MN has a high % of H-1B visas, many of which go to Mayo + other hospital doctors. His proposed $100k visa fee will prevent the world's best from saving US lives.

Smart gun control laws with enforcement saves lives.

While we can never exactly know the extent of horror that is prevented, data on Minnesota provides evidence of the State’s red flag law working.

While Trump tries to isolate the US on climate, MN is firmly aligned w/ the rest of the world. Clean energy is the smart financial & environmental bet.

In today’s example, we saw the Heights in StP where @habitatforhumanity is building affordable all-electric homes to Zero Energy Ready Standards.

- sustainable, natural material
- grown in MN

We can pinpoint some of the rising cost of everyday goods: cargo theft.

MN companies are losing millions from ever more sophisticated digital & physical product theft. I was pleased to join U of M’s Center for Transportation Studies with Rep. Greene to talk about cargo theft & policies to curb it.

Back-to-work policies disproportionately disadvantage women, but the real issue is lack of affordable childcare for families across MN.

As I’ve talked w/ colleagues, I’m heartened by the bipartisan interest in this, b/c it is a completely solvable problem.

www.startribune.com/women-workfo...
Remote policies helped women work. In-office mandates and child care costs are driving them back out.
Low flexibility and high child care costs are pushing mothers with young kids back out after they joined the workforce in record numbers during the pandemic.
