"If we follow the example of our South African siblings, we in the U.S. need to articulate a prophetic theology that refuses to be neutral or apolitical, and is committed to explicitly naming and condemning the powers that prohibit justice."

We Aren’t the First Christians To Face a Kairos Moment

It is a great honor and pleasure to welcome John Deasy, former president of the Family Foundation and current principle at Cambiar Education, to Sojourners' Board of Directors!

Lifting up fervent prayers and support today for all the victims of Oct 7, all those who are still held hostage, and all the victims of the horrific war in Gaza. As we mourn and remember those we’ve lost let us redouble our commitment to ending the war and pave the way toward a sustainable peace.

Rev. Moya Harris, stood alongside Creation Justice Ministries and other national faith partners to call for bold climate action and justice.

May we continue to stand with the prophetic harmony crying out: “Restore. Renew. Reimagine” 🌏

"What those artists did, ultimately, even if unwittingly, was provide cultural legitimacy to, and warmup for, an event in which Jesus’ name was certainly uttered a lot...but this Jesus was ultimately subservient to Trump’s America." sojo.net/articles/opi...
At Charlie Kirk’s Memorial, Worship Took a Backseat to Trump
There may have been hope in Jesus at the memorial. But it had to wait until President Trump received his glory.

Sojourners has been countering false narratives and shining a light on truth for more than 50 years, and we are not stopping now. But without continuing financial support, the mission we strive for is at risk. Chip in and help support our work at a critical moment: give.sojo.net/page/88365/d...

This whole thread is important. Outrageous and incredibly harmful decision by the administration.

The Administration acknowledged that it will stop the survey that measures food insecurity, just as tariffs push up food prices and the deep cuts to food assistance enacted in July start to take effect. Congress must intervene to save these vital data. www.wsj.com/economy/trum...
Exclusive | Trump Administration Cancels Annual Hunger Survey
The government has been measuring food insecurity since the mid-1990s but now says the report has become “overly politicized.”

It was moving to see Erika Kirk forgive her husband’s killer because “that is what Christ would do” and say we cannot meet hate with more hate. In stark contrast, President Trump disagreed saying “he hates his opponents”. I pray that our nation and TP embraces her witness and not Trump’s.
Erika Kirk says she forgives the man accused of killing her husband
Speaking to tens of thousands of people at the memorial, Kirk said she had found comfort in prayer and also in the way people had responded to her husband's death.

For years, I've supported @sojo.net because they take my values into the political arena in a way that's true to my faith—emphasizing not power and nationalism, but God's call to justice.

Starting today, I'll match every donation at www.sojo.net/ricksteves, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 total.
The Future of Truth and Justice is at Stake
Every day, Sojourners works to amplify the biblical call to justice by publishing nonprofit journalism, equipping people of faith for advocacy, and speaking truth in the face of hate. But we cannot co...

Thanks to @rns.org for the opportunity to write about Johnson Amendment protections for faith communities and non-profit organizations. I appreciated the chance to give my perspective both as president of @sojo.net and board chair of @independentsector.bsky.social. religionnews.com/2025/09/17/w...

My prayers are lifted for the family and loved ones of Charlie Kirk. Violence has no place in our body politic. As much as we can and will disagree politically, we must find a way to end this vicious, heartbreaking cycle of gun violence www.nytimes.com/live/2025/09...

Jesus Was a Protester
Protesting is the antithesis of being apathetic, complicit, callous, and passive. Jesus was very good at it.

I'm heartbroken at the reports now emerging from Minnesota about the shooting at a Catholic school. It is long overdue for our country to do better by our kids by changing the laws that make deadly weapons so plentiful and available. We must never allow atrocities like this to become normalized.
