Compare how the campaign rebuffed Gaza protestors to how it abandoned the extremely popular price gouging platform. In both cases, Harris ran right. In both, it was motivated more by a desire to be moderate than actual strategy. 5/

Harris ran a centrist campaign where she pivoted on most key issues. When they thought she was winning, centrists were happy to take credit

Much of the overstatement of moderation's appeal stems from rewriting history to portray Bill Clinton as moderating all the way to victory in 1992.

In fact, he ran a mixed, sometimes quite progressive, campaign and then ran right in 1993 after winning. 2/
