CHATTANOOGA FILM FESTIVAL making No AI a key rule for film eligibility is so fucking great!

More of this, especially with the rise of film fests with all-AI promom materials, this gives me hope!
Rules stating no ai.

Novel by Ethan Pettus, (so far) 2 main novels plus two covering the time between books one and two.

I’d describe them as fairly pulpy fare: if you want dinosaur carnage then it satisfies. Even if they slow now and again for moves at “human condition” talk.

Most certainly doesn’t. What they did for ~$7mil is jaw dropping. Absolutely delivered on its trailer with plenty of dino-soldier sequences. 2 hours of B movie fun that hit me right in my sweet spot.

And as a book adaptation, quite loyal.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched 🍿

Best way I can describe it as it sorta lands plunk in the middle of all three rather than the normal “X meets Y” or “X meets Y by way of Z.”

Jfc - so is America “winning” yet? I’m not sure how this is “winning.”

The Beyond, Phantasm, & Hellraiser made the influence triangle for a horror script I wrote years back. Plan to adapt to novel.

Fabio Frizzi’s theme “Voci dal nulla” and its iterations are a great writing mood setter.

It also makes a good double feature with Fulci’s City of the Living Dead.

There was absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Jews in Germany deliberately sabotaged the WW1 war effort or organised a grand conspiracy to destroy Germany after the war. Zero.

Obvious point but worth bearing in mind during this ‘Great Antifa scare of ‘25’

Yeah, that’s something I’ve to be specific about. It’s like “I was 6, the most advanced computer graphics was the original Sid Meyer’s Pirates and Prince of Persia. No concept a computer could make such images.”

I also thought at that age “surf the internet” meant you needed swim trunks.

I had seen Gwangi, King Kong - so stop motion was accepted in my brain. But the CG and animatronics; I couldn’t process.

Parents had to show me a “making of” book for me to understand.

They both read the novel and went “too gruesome even if the film is PG13.”

Great list. I forgot about Night of the Demon, for a far older film it’s still very creepy.

I’ll always have JP as horror. I saw it on VHS when I was ~6 (parents wouldn’t take me to the theater) and it scared the hell outta me. I thought the dinosaurs were totally real lol

I love how 3D can be a gimmick or used artistically; so it’s always my preferred format when possible. Honestly a Creature remake could do 3D better with the new tech.

I could’ve easily made the list almost all Carpenter, Fulci, and Romero; but opted to expand it out lol

Not gonna say my own lol

But that’s hard as I’ve read so many this year. So, going from August to now; it’s be KINGS OF THE WYLD.

Adventurers gather for one last quest to save the daughter of the former group leader. Time to get the band back together.

Full of wry humor, it’s a joy to read.

I mean, when I saw TO HELL AND BACK at like 8/9 years old; I didn’t believe Audie Murphy played himself. He looked far too young and boyish to be a soldier.
rhenryhumphries.bsky.social
I’ll be honest, I thought for the longest time Hell House LLC was legit a documentary about those and never watched it. Then when they started making sequels, I actually read the synopsis.
