I raised the devastating impact of sudden visa rule changes with the Mayor – over 200 TfL workers are at risk of deportation.

These are people who trusted the system, built lives here and are now left in limbo.

I'm glad the Mayor has committed to lobby the Government and support these workers.

They have the advantage of unlimited publicity from the far-right gutter press, BBC, Twitter, GBNews etc. They lie with impunity and are never held to account. Added to that, there are far too many gullible people out there who believe their lives would be improved by deporting brown people.

The rules apply to any non-EU citizens not covered by free movement law, not just British citizens. All these possible penalties for overstay already exist.
