Investors who buy/sell bubbles probably know that they are helping to cause system collapse, but they don't care.
richpuchalsky.bsky.social
There is no "wrong bet" as long as you sell before the bubble pops. That's all that our economy is about.

I used to tell people that I read the MMR because I was morbid and mortal. (Jokes aside, yes it's very bad that it's going away.)

Well, the word for someone who "genuinely cares about the vision of Israel as a safe haven for Jewish people" is Zionist. I'm a Jew in my 60s and at this point I think it's safe to say that Zionism only emerges as one thing, no matter what beliefs you go into it with.

49 members of the Thousand Madleens freedom flotilla remain in Israeli custody for trying to deliver much-needed aid to starving people in Gaza. Whatever Trump says about a "ceasefire," the lives and liberation of Palestinians still depend on international solidarity.

A banner hangs from a building at night, reading "Free the flotilla fighters—free Palestine."

Brits exhibited many people from other continents as slaves, but most sideshow stories do not feature the carnies who run the sideshow as buying and selling the performers. If it's looked at as erotic fantasy it's just a different set of keywords, but it wasn't primarily written as one I don't think

What remains unsaid in the story -- which I'm surprised at Dunsany about -- is that it's a slave narrative. All the emphasis on how she's owned by the hotel, and she's clearly a thinking person. She flees and throws her wedding ring away when Jorkins is going to return her to slavery.

I can't quote the GOB in a public forum. Look at the last GOB.

Works pretty much the same as any of these. You're on the best server: some people will keep saying you should switch but your chances of inter-server drama or server owner burnout go down dramatically by being on the really large server.

This was always a major possibility and the NYT and the Guardian didn't do themselves any favors when their reporters didn't even bother to call the airline and get a statement about it

I was mostly there already. I only come here because there are a few people who I follow here.

I don't doubt that you do. But NARA (for anyone else reading this: IWW US/Canada) disavowed GDC community defense and having non-IWW members in GDC, so your group is a remnant that no one has gotten around to making trouble for within the IWW yet
richpuchalsky.bsky.social
There are a number of groups that named themselves IWW GDCs but that have no actual connection with the IWW. (Luckily. The IWW had a yearly convention and the only thing they passed was a resolution that the GDC couldn't do community defense.)

Mark Bray skeeted about this and we still don't know substantially more than what was in the skeet (paraphrased as "I don't know whether this was the Trump admin or just a screwup but it sure looks suspicious").

The problem with this metaphor is that an artist might like an expensive pencil set if someone bought them one, even though they knew it wouldn't make them a better artist.

No artist would like it if someone bought them an AI

This the second article about this (first one was NYT) where the reporter didn't bother to find out which airline and get them on record about why this happened, even as a no comment

By using Sicilian along with "Mexican Mafia" they can do a kind of Great Replacement theory
richpuchalsky.bsky.social
There have been many attempts to save data that Trump's admin is taking down. But these don't help the core problem, which is that governmental databases are useful because they keep getting updated. If not, they become historical data.

I don't know whether I mis-read this NYT article or whether they removed some Chinese connection, but the article itself talks about people from Harvard and Boston.

There was a Youuber whose handle I forget who has a great Venn diagram of circles for conservatives, liberals, and leftists where a characteristic of each of them was that they didn't differentiate between the other two, and in the 3-circle intersection was "hates leftists".

It's the one that has the most textual support, I think. The rhyme about the Ring says that its basic purpose is rulership.
richpuchalsky.bsky.social
Or if you prefer: explanation #3. The Ring is about power-over-others in a social sense, and Gollum through his extreme isolation from society no longer really registers as a social creature.

Huh, OK. Explanation #1 then
