I draw monsters, fantasy stuff and cartoons compulsively and share them here fairly regularly. IDK if these are my best pieces, but they seem to be pretty popular. I also seem to be fascinated by pumpkin-headed dudes.
Large, detailed Ink and Ink Wash drawing of the work populated by 'Creeple'. It's a crazy, absurd fantasy world with weird looking characters, but is it really that different from our own? A digital drawing of a witch who looks out over a gloomy coastline of cliffs and grey waters. Her long dark hair, cloak and dress are windswept as she glowers into the distance with orange slits for eyes. The Invisible Man seems to be in a hurry as he runs against a fire-colored backdrop. He wears Victorian clothing, carries a doctor's bag and wears an iron mask to hide his lack of a face. Pen and ink drawing, colored with Procreate. Jack Pumpkinhead looks a bit mischievous. He wears tattered clothes were we can see bits of hay sticking out of the holes. He's drawn with colored pencil on black paper.

Share your knowledge if/when you can. Teaching other people how to do what you do doesn’t lessen your art - it just means more and better art for everyone.

I appreciate when people are willing to tell me about their brushes, how they study, etc… I want to put that back out into the world.

So, I got some unexpected kudos from an unlikely source. My son's friends had an online conversation about some of the drawings.

anyway i hear some fuckery in the bathroom so i go to check what’s going on and this is what i see
my goofy ass cat Jack wedged between the bathroom vanity and the toilet. on his big head is the domed swing lid from the trash can, through which he stuffed the aforementioned big head to dig for qtips. he looks thoroughly unamused.

I’m Rick. By day I’m a marketing artist for a game company. At night I draw my own weird stuff.
I’m an ancient game artist who has worked on stuff like EverQuest, Lord of the Rings Online, Plants vs Zombies and lots of other things.

Make friends with other artists. Hang out with them. Start a weekly or monthly drawing night with them and chat while you scribble. Some of my best friends, a few of which I’ve known for 35+ years, I met at drawing nights. It’s great for inspiration and feedback.

I met up with some artist friends to check out the Andres Zorn exhibit. It was spectacular. Really stellar work of a master painter. This is a self portrait.
There were a lot of portraits in the exhibit, the men all wearing black suits and doing serious work or reading newspapers. Then there’s this self portrait where Zorn depicting himself in a gorgeous red suit. Just splendid.
