Charters and vouchers turn families into customers to be catered to instead of agents of change within the school system.
Should the school abandon its model or should parents pull their students and potentially force closure due to low-enrollment? These are built-in features of the charter experiment.
“Parental choice” is unworkable and the charter churn is wasteful. This school opened in August and parents are already dissatisfied with what was supposed to be their preferred model.

Democratize our education system instead of marketizing it.

And now they find their funding drying up because the end goal of many of their deep pocketed backers was always privatization and vouchers expedite the process.
Charter schools ushered in so many of the harms to our public school system by injecting “competition” and “flexibility”.

High-stakes testing and ballooning class sizes, among others, are a direct outgrowth of the charter “movement.”
(THIS IS NOT A PRO CHARTER SCHOOL THREAD)

There’s a weird resistance in the pro public ed camp to admit that the system is flawed and causing harm which is detrimental to our cause. I think we save schools with honesty AND a vision for transformation.

Highly selective when quoting Panitch’s tweets
Actually insane, but totally unsurprising, that Bluestein not only mentions Esther Panitch but tries to frame her as a “mainstream Democrat” in his piece on Ruwa Romman’s run for Governor.

Panitch is a hardline Zionist who has repeatedly said and shared vile things about members of her own party

Now is the time to be brave. Republicans in Georgia have controlled our state for over 20 years leading to underfunded schools, closing hospitals, & low wages stuck at $5.15.

I'm running for Governor to change that.

Here’s the actual video. Haven’t watched yet but Rashaun Kemp’s inclusion is upsetting given that he doesn’t represent DeKalb and his being a longtime supporter (and professional beneficiary) of charter schools

Seems like Georgia Ethics Code should prevent the governor from appointing the immediate family of other electeds/members of the press to BACs

This is all too common.

If I were someone whose project is reviving the factional strength and electoral viability of centrist Dems, and if I was someone always banging on about meeting public opinion where it is, I think I would be counseling the centrist faction to actually be responsive to public opinion on Gaza.
