Georgia needs a leader who will be honest about who is the cause of the challenges we face and who can mobilize a movement to deliver results.

My first speech as a gubernatorial candidate was at UNITE HERE Local 23 because unions are one of the most effective ways to fight corporate greed and special interests.
Everyone deserves a fair chance against policies that leave us behind.

I want to add some nuance to this. We need to be mobilizing in every corner of the state, and I’m grateful candidates step up to give those voters a choice. Candidates should leverage what they raise for year round organizing. But raising 10+ million to burn on ads and consultants ain’t it.

When SNAP benefits were disrupted, our volunteers mobilized to support their local food banks and distribution locations.

We’re hearing helicopters and word is spreading of massive ICE raids tomorrow and Friday particularly in Gwinnett. These excessive raids put all of us in danger. Spread the word, look out for each other, and remember your rights.

This is why it’s so important to not give into Republican framing! These things are interconnected. Republicans keep offering tax cuts as solutions leading to more expensive, and at times deadly, consequences all while making the rich and powerful richer and more powerful.

Today as we honor veterans we must ensure we go past words. My county, Gwinnett, has the largest population of veterans. Veterans also account for 6.4% of small business owners in our state. Yet too often, they cannot access the benefits they earned because of systems we’ve underfunded. 1/

The Trump administration is using government resources to argue before the highest court of the land that they shouldn’t have to feed hungry people. They’d rather Americans starve than just follow the law.
NEW: Trump admin goes to SCOTUS to try and stop order that it pay full SNAP benefits this month
DOJ asks the justices for an order by 9:30 p.m. Friday — as USDA was in the middle of completing its process for making full payments, under a court order to finish Friday.

Seeing a debate brewing on how long ACA subsidies should be extended which is an absurd position. As I’ve said weeks ago, why are we negotiating healthcare? There’s no end date to a potential health emergency that risks bankrupting a family.
