I wasn't a big fan of the tweet format anyway and it's increasingly obvious that an unfiltered instant delivery method for my weird, inebriated thoughts to an audience isn't the best idea. So idk if i'm sticking it out on Bluesky long term.

Here's how to find me elsewhere.

I thought about doing On Her Majesty's Secret Service yet tonight, but i don't think i have it in me. It's been a bad week and a stagnant day. I've had some wine. I'm tired. idk if i'll do any tomorrow, but probably not.

starting Casino Royale (1967)

Moving outside of the boxed set for something completely different. this unofficial Bond parody film was made using a rights loophole as kind of a fuck you to Eon Entertainment. It's legendarily bad (Tomatometer 26%, popcorn 34%) but was successful at the time.
December 14, 2025 at 1:30 AM
starting You Only Live Twice (1967)

Sean Connery's 5th consecutive appearance as Bond, Lewis Gilbert's 1st Bond film as director, and ROALD DAHL'S (?!??!) first film as screenwriter. Not his first Bond film, his first feature film, *period.* Connery would quit after this, but he'd be back.
December 13, 2025 at 10:29 PM
wasn't intending to skeet more Bond today, i had things i meant to do. but my brain's in rough shape, it's ridiculously cold outside, and this is all i've got for now.

Trevor: Dammit i was almost to the reboot van and Dustin Strangerthings nailed me.
Cass: "Dustin Strangerthings"??
Trevor: "Isn't that his name? Dustin Strangerthings from the hit movie Strangerthings?"

starting Thunderball (1965)

Sean Connery's 4th film as Bond and Terrence Young's 3rd Bond film as director. The reviews on this one are still very good, but this is where they begin to slip.
December 13, 2025 at 1:05 AM
i did make my own spreadsheet, which i am now fucking with at 1:30am. James Bond 1, 2, and 3 have RT scores of 95, 97, 99 and audience scores of 82, 84, 89. There will not be another critic score above 90 until Casino Royale (2006) or an audience score above 80 until GoldenEye (1995).
didn't Rotten Tomatoes used to have a feature where you could click to see every entry in a series and how they stacked up? i can't find that now. am i gonna have to make my own spreadsheet here or what?

probs should anyway, i'm likely gonna take some detours on this journey.

Something i was thinking about through the end of Goldfinger. These movies were all one year apart, 1962, 63, 64, and i already do not feel like Connery is playing the same character. There was a warmth to him, especially with women, in the first 2. By the 3rd, he's a psychopath that knows he's hot.

starting Goldfinger (1964)

Connery's 3rd outing is considered by many the very best film in the franchise. On RT, it's the highest-rated by critics (99%) and second-highest by audiences (89%), only barely eked out by Casino Royale (2006, 90%).

ehh fuck it let's do another one
December 12, 2025 at 2:50 AM
about to start James Bond 2: From Russia With Love (1963).

Released just one year after Dr. No and still starring Sean Connery as James Bond, this is also one of the highest-rated in the series, boasting an RT score of 97%. surprising, given how quickly they pumped this out after the first.
December 11, 2025 at 10:57 PM
starting Dr. No (1962), starring Sean Connery.

This is the first James Bond movie, and is still considered one of the franchise's best. It's based on the 6th book, and makes references to plot threads from both earlier and later entries in the series, so i wonder if i'll pick up on any of that.
December 9, 2025 at 4:30 AM
Alright since four (4) people responded positively...well 3 positively and one cautiously...imma get started skeeting these shits.

first of all. yeah the misogyny is gonna be bad at first. imma try my best not to stop and shout about it every six minutes. probably the racism too.
December 9, 2025 at 4:16 AM
Should i liveskeet all of the James Bond movies
December 5, 2025 at 6:35 PM
I'm watching this again, and there's a scene where Fred the Doofus goes into a theater. I hadn't caught it on the first viewing, but the movie he goes to see is The Nude Vampire, another Jean Rollin film, which i haven't seen but i did reference in those skeets.
Watching another PH Indicator release, Lips Of Blood. This is a Jean Rollin film, like my first PH experience which i didn't liveskeet. I'm 32min in, there's been 5min worth of story. We spent 30 establishing Fred as a doofus, and he just now accidentally released the vampires. It's is 86min long.
December 5, 2025 at 4:10 AM
watching 3:10 To Yuma (1957, dir. Delmer Daves)

liveskeeting bad movies this week really helped me engage with the material & stay focused. today i've been in & out of consciousness, in & out of pain, & binged Bob's Burgers & played mobile games. Let's try skeeting a good movie for a change.
December 3, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Will Smith's 1998 hit Just The Two Of Us is famously about his relationship with his son Trey. The last line is, "Just the two of us, for the rest of *your* life." That's weird, right? Is Will expecting to outlive his son?
December 2, 2025 at 5:26 PM
alright i'm done with the Ormonds and Estus Pirkle now.
December 2, 2025 at 12:34 AM
The Believer's Heaven was a flop after Footmen & Burning Hell. Estus: "When you preach about Heaven, people do not respond to that as much as when you preach about Hell. People aren't as pulled by wanting to be somewhere good as they are wanting to be pushed from somewhere that's bad."

I disagree.
....this dude is selling real estate in Heaven. i fuckin swear.

Estus just described a huge, opulent mansion somewhere in America, with b-roll, and was like "Wouldn't you want to live in a place like that?" uhhh NO?? Then he was like, "this is nothing compared to even the least mansion in Heaven!"
December 2, 2025 at 12:28 AM
oh yeah, also idk why Nicolas Winding Refn spearheaded the restoration on these. He's from Denmark and he's best known for violent crime thrillers, so i doubt he's Southern Baptist. on his Wikipedia page yhere's a quote about how his parents loved French New Wave so he rebelled with American horror.

Final thoughts on From Hollywood to Heaven: The Lost and Saved Films of The Ormond Family thread.
December 1, 2025 at 11:53 PM
starting Forgotten Memories (1997)

This is the 18th and final film in the Nicolas Winding Refn-curated boxed set From Hollywood to Heaven: The Lost and Saved Films of The Ormond Family. This is June's last film in any capacity, and Tim's last as writer or director. It clocks in at a svelte 20min.
December 1, 2025 at 11:21 PM
starting June Carr: The Virtual Vaudevillain (1997)

The 17th film in the Ormond boxed set, this 30-min short allows the family's matriarch to ruminate on her long career in showbiz, from her Vaudeville roots through these last few documentaries.
December 1, 2025 at 10:45 PM
starting Lash LaRue: A Man and His Memories

This is the 16th film in the Ormond boxed set. At 71 minutes, it's Tim's longest directing effort, and the final Ormond movie to technically qualify as a "feature film." The next two put together run shorter than this.

Almost done.
December 1, 2025 at 9:23 PM
starting A Tribute To Houdini (1987)

This is the 15th film in the Ormond boxed set. It, plus the next 3, are buried in the Special Features of the last disc, and it is immediately apparent that it's sourced from an aged VHS tape.
