And that's a wrap on the 2025 season for the museum! Thank you to all our visitors, artists, and musicians who shared their time and talents with us this summer.
"Mushrooms nestle here and there: those that grow in the open, far from hedge and tree, are small, and the gills of a more delicate salmon colour. Under the elms yonder a much larger variety may be found, which, though edible, are coarser."

Our #Halloween event is on Saturday. Please note these are not drop-in sessions; if you haven't managed to get a ticket this year, please don't come as we will have to turn you away. We have a capacity limit for everyone's #safety and enjoyment. Thank you!

Today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight is the Goldcrest! ✨

Our tiniest bird takes on an epic journey, with arrivals from northern Europe and Russia joining our resident birds in autumn.

Weighing just 5-6g, it’s incredible to think such a small bird can make it across the sea!
First off, Jasmine Grace will be back because she's amazing, as is the multi-instrumentalist Tawanda Mapanda. New to us are M3G and AJ!

We'll be posting more updates and bookings as we get them, and thank you so much for your #support of Lazy Summer Sounds.

This is the first time we've made a concerted effort to book #YoungMusicians with an independent streak, and we're pleased to report that we've already been introduced to some new, talented people!
Keeping it simple, this was one of our volunteers' favourite #Halloween 'costumes' last year.

#ThrowbackThursday
Our crowdfunding campaign for young musicians aims to provide support for more musicians. If you are able to donate and/or share this campaign with your network, we will be able to pay more artists to perform in our gardens over our 2026 season. Every pound helps!

We're bragging a bit when we say we met Billy and Louie before they went on The Voice. They're a lovely duo, and we're so pleased they've been able to follow their dreams.

The allotments are being redeveloped (by volunteers) into a beautiful, accessible #community #garden. If you'd like to find out more (or offer some help), please get in touch!

A new friend has joined the tiny hens in the museum cafe - meet Guac (amole, get it?)! It's had a tour of the spaces outside, and is very impressed with the work that's been done so far in the #allotments, where #volunteers have uncovered the old cobbled paths back when the cowshed was in situ.
(If you have got a ticket and your plans change, just get in touch with us. We can't do a straight refund as we're a small charity, but if we can re-sell your tickets, we will be able to refund you, less SumUp fees.)
She would also like to add that any scammers who comment here about selling on their tickets will have a hex put on them, so their tea will always be at the wrong temperature.
The Lady of the Museum would like everyone to know that there are no spaces left on our Halloween events. Thank you to all the families who have bought tickets, your support for our little museum means a lot!

Pledge your hour, wherever you choose to volunteer! If you use Neighbourly, you can find volunteering opportunities there (by some miraculous coincidence, we have a page that is updated with our available roles).

When the clocks go back at the end of the month, we all get an 'extra hour'. We’re asking you to join us in The Extra Hour campaign, a nationwide movement of kindness.

"In these modern days men have lost the pleasures of the orchard; yet an old-fashioned orchard is the most delicious of places wherein to idle away the afternoon of a hazy autumn day, when the sun seems to shine with a soft slumberous warmth without glare...
A mini photo walk around the museum's gardens revealed all its autumnal colours...

the increase in UK exports in the first half of 2025 was mainly to Indonesia (24,006 tonnes in 2025, up from 525 tonnes in 2024) and Malaysia (28,667 tonnes, up from 18,872 tonnes in 2024).
