Breaking:

The European Commission said on Tuesday it would investigate Mandelson, who was European trade commissioner from 2004-8 before leaving early to return to UK politics.

Mandelson draws a pension from his time there and has to adhere to a code of conduct for former staff.

I was once a very junior news agency reporter, which among its many elements exposes you briefly to quite a lot of famous/influential people for whom you are quite unimportant. How they treated you could be illuminating. Peter Mandelson was – twice – by *far* the most dismissive and unpleasant.

The awfulness of Epstein risks overshadowing the fact that what Mandelson did would have been wrong whichever financier he was sending stuff to. thecritic.co.uk/pete...

“Grandpa, what does ‘awesome’ mean?”

“Well, back at one point, it was a word used to describe the planet’s great unfathomable wonders, although now it generally means ‘Thanks for emailing me that PDF'."

Far right think Britain is broken. Resist their exploitation of despair and fight for a better future. My latest article for @yorkshirepost.co.uk

Britain needs to look to the future, the country is at its best when innovating - Andy Brown
There has long been a dangerous tendency for some people on the left to believe that Britain is broken and the solution to our problems lies in copying the way things are done in other countries.

Happy #NationalHedgehogDay 🥺

This little Egyptian faience model of a hedgehog is from a tomb at Abydos, and was made around 1,500–1,300 BCE.

Hedgehogs had a favourable reputation in ancient Egypt, and were often seen as a symbol of rebirth and renewal of life.

He is a fraud every word is a lie.
