As someone who has to be careful about saying the word "shower" unless he wants the house wolf to make a headlong dash for the bedroom, I can confirm this.

I feel this advice is valuable for any software product.
I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.

Social Media Happiness is finding new Artists or Hackers/Makers to follow.

Even more so in this age of dismal AI Slop, it is a joy to see creative people doing creative things and sharing their work online.

A reminder that there's still some good out there.

the recent AI discourse has me feeling things, so it's still worth stating for the record:

- AI as a "self-justified product" for end-users is usually shit
- AI for tooling does not release you from responsibility of what is produced
- You can (and should) still do things by hand, whenever you want

Callenson had the courage and conviction to stay with the scene and keep filming. Not to run away, but instead to follow the scene. To continue documenting what was unfolding.

I'd like to think I'd have done the same. I'm not sure at all that I would have.

This is crazy man. Bluesky is the only place I “promote” my newsletter or post my stories.

I’ve also never done a public sale before because I hate promo. As a woman in sports I also have to fight the understandable survival instinct to make myself small every day.

this is v v humbling!

"Again?" said the dog.

"They are fond of endings and beginnings. Even if nothing changes."

The dog whined.

"Same procedure as last year?" said the cat.

"Please."

The cat lay on the dog's head and purred, muffling the fireworks.
