I was told that the US is running Venezuela now and it would be easy and there'd be lots of money... and now the US govt is telling Americans to get the hell out.

These guys don't even know what a plan is. It's all just wish casting. It's incredible that they currently run the world.

Callenson had the courage and conviction to stay with the scene and keep filming. Not to run away, but instead to follow the scene. To continue documenting what was unfolding.

I'd like to think I'd have done the same. I'm not sure at all that I would have.

It's time to state clearly that if MAGA and Republicans can't condemn any part of this shooting, continue to blame the victim for it, and even hint that it's a just outcome that others "deserve," that's a crossing of the line that the rest of us won't ever be able to forget.

One of my goals in the remaining years of my career as a columnist is to be around when soulless sacks like this beg forgiveness and cry crocodile tears seeking redemption. I want to be there to tell them: No. Sit in your space on the wrong side of history and live with the cruel choices you made.

Some context:

Venezuela: 28.5 million people, 912,050 sq km
Texas: 31.5 million people, 678,052 sq km

Very similar population, 1.4× bigger land mass than Texas.

Butt cheeks aside, I’d also credit Levi’s as one of the very (very) few logos / wordmarks where mixing lower- and uppercase glyphs at the same height actually looks natural and cool.

I’d support this.

I suspect (but can’t say I know) that Dye was thirsty for the visibility of a prime keynote role, but that’s not uncommon within Apple. And there’s a strong culture, especially in the era of pre-recorded keynotes, of putting the people responsible for X on camera to introduction of X, whatever X is.

I’m not sure, but it doesn’t matter. It either is AI slop or it was made to look like AI slop. Either way it sucks. There are no props in the show of a carton that claims to be both whole milk and lowfat.

If that’s because of the DMA why is it available outside the EU?

I’m sure.

Perhaps the silence on Daring Fireball regarding this is more nuanced than you think?

Also, my argument is that the Japanese MSCA is better for *users*, not better for Apple.

Nothing Google has said about their implementation mentions Wi-Fi aware. And nothing they’ve said suggests that it only works with iOS 26. If it works with iOS 18 and earlier, then surely it has nothing to do with Wi-Fi Aware or the DMA and they simply backwards engineered AWDL.
December 24, 2025 at 2:38 AM
I of course have read both of those. Neither offers a shred of evidence that Apple has implemented Wi-Fi Aware for AirPlay in iOS 26 (yet). The current EC mandate is that they must, next year, but that’s not proof in any way that they have already.
