It’s Red Squirrel Awareness Week
A beautiful Red from the Dingle on Anglesey.
#photography #UKwildlife #RedSquirrelAwareness
A Red Squirrel sitting on a branch. Her face full on to the camera, but looking down at the Hazelnut that is clasped in her front paws. Her ears pointing up with wonderful tufts, and her tail rising up behind her. The branch is moss covered and littered with already broken nutshells.

Preening time for this Kingfisher as the sunrise hits its beautiful plumage. Two hours lying down on the river bank, under a camo net was well worth it. #birds #photography #UKnature

So, I'm not quite there yet but I am definitely improving. And it's always good to meet up and share a few laughs with my brother @robcamera.bsky.social, who came over to Brandon yesterday to encourage me!
Selfie taken by my brother Rob, of him (left) and me (right). I'm not sure you really want a description of us! Does Rob have bunny ears? Or are those two of my fingers poking out from behind the top of his head?

Until recently I hadn’t seen a Marbled White since 1980, and then I got to see them at three different locations 😀 #photography #UKwildlife #butterflies
The beautiful Marbled White will be mostly seen feeding from Thistle, capturing the beauty of black and white on purple was amazing The variations of green background also help to display the beauty of this butterfly. Here the subject can be seen just above centre of picture. A wonderful side on view with it looking to the left. Those black and white checks are just stunning. Did you know that the Marbled White is actually part of the family of brown butterflies, confusing eh And finally, here is one resting in the long grass. Right in the centre of photo and wings fully open, what a beautiful sight to see

Thank you so much 🙏

Oh camera for sure, especially as I don’t have a drone, but I would never risk flying one amongst 100’s of these birds 😀

I have a strange feeling that you might of liked them photos 😂

Male Kingfisher with bonus Little Egret as a backdrop.
#birds #photography #UKwildlife
A male Kingfisher is perched centre of photo. With its back to the camera it shows off that beautiful blue back, the white collar, blue cap and the beautiful orange front and cheek. Behind it stands a Little Egret (blurred) and the shallow glare waters in which it stands

A Brown Hare catches the final rays of the setting sun on the Kerry Ridgeway. I don’t see Hares very often so this was an amazing moment for me.
#photography #UKwildlife #hare #KerryRidgeway
This wonderful Brown Hare allowed me to slowly get up close. Sat in a varied green vegetation and slightly lit up by the setting sun. As its name suggests he is almost totally brown but for black tips to the ends of the ears. His eye is just catching some of the remaining sunlight and his little nose had been twitching away as he sniffed the air for signs of danger.

The Barn Swallow, the most widespread of all Swallow species and can be found on all continents.
#birds #photography #UKwildlife
The Barn Swallow, perched centre of the photograph, on a long dead small bush branch. Visible is its stunning white front that leads up to a blue/black collar, a red throat and blue cheeks and head. The shoulders to the wings are also blue/black, and they also have a very long forked tail that his hidden from view in this photo. The birds head is slightly tilted back, here, as it bursts into a small song. Such a beautiful bird to see.

Preening Puffin, #SkomerIsland
#birds #photography #UKWildlife
A delightful Puffin fills your screen. Its head bowed with beak tending to preening duties on its chest. Black feathers adorn its neck and upper wings, with white breast gleaming in the sunlight. The tip of its beak carefully holding a small feather from its chest.

Happy for sure, thank you 🙏

Good morning people of #BlueSky who’s feeling happy today 😀🐥 #birds #photography #UKwildlife
A small Duckling, beak open, paddles across the water emitting happy vibes. The beautiful mix of brown and yellow feathers against water that heavily reflects the surrounding greenery and the Ducklings happy little face

The male Pied Flycatcher with a beak full for the nest. #birds #photography #UKwildlife
The wonderful male Pied Flycatcher, perched on a slightly mossy tree stump, with a beak that contains something similar to a Mayfly. He has a full white chest and throat and a black face and head with a little blotch of white above his black beak. The wings are predominantly black with some patches of white, but in the sunlight some of the black can look brown.

Last night @robcamera.bsky.social suggested we meet up today at a nature reserve we both wanted to visit. We went. We saw wonderful #UKWildlife. And then I identified a bird. A rare bird, my report of which caused a stir. More on that soon. For now, here are some of the other #birds we saw today. 🌿
Four photos of birds combined in one image. Clockwise from top left: A male Bullfinch (black head, grey back and upper wings, black lower wings and tail, pinkish red neck, chest and belly). A juvenile Pied Wagtail (a small bird, with black, white and grey plumage above and white below, with a long tail). A Juvenile Long-tailed Tit (another bird with a long tail; this one has a mostly brown head with pink rims to his or eyes, and whitish underparts). A Little Ringed Plover (a small, fast-moving bird on gravelly ground on the shore of a lake; mostly brown above and white below but with a black collar, and a black band running from the cheek across the forehead, within which a dark eye with a prominent yellow rim can be seen).

A fledgling Rock Pipit brings you some Monday morning cuteness

The Broad_bodied Chaser
#UKwildlife #photography
A Broad-bodied Chaser Dragonfly is perched centre of photo. His head and thorax are brown, and the abdomen is a gorgeous blue with yellow spots running down the sides. The upper wing tips have a slight marking whilst the wing base has a thicker brown marking that is slightly deeper than on the head and thorax.

A tail that they just love to wag 😀
