This is the report I spoke of on #bbcaq just now - ministers tried to suppress it, were finally forced to release it after an FoI, but shamefully only published a redacted version. The first duty of Govt is to protect its citizens - that starts with being honest with us about scale of threat we face

Good to see mainstream coverage of “deplaytion” - the loss and decline of neighbourhood playgrounds, and of a tolerance of children’s neighbourhood play.

It’s critical that this issue is taken as seriously - in terms of children’s mental health - as social media.

Thanks @anooshc.bsky.social.

Excellent thread on a complex issue, well worth a read. Reform of the law is certainly needed.
1/15 The Labour Party are coming for the Green Party on drug policy. And they are doing it by sensationalising and mispresenting the policy. This is politics driven by focus group, that aims to smear and misinform at best - or lie and disinform at worst.

We keep banging on about council funding because the end result is this very real, very depressing fraying of the social fabric. Newcastle needs to save £200k so the park cafes close, the staff is let go, and another community anchor goes. To save pennies.

Love having this in my timeline. Whatever is happening in the world the sun will rise tomorrow; and at this time of year it will hang around just that bit longer than the day before, actually 178 seconds longer tomorrow.
The sun will rise in #Bristol #England tomorrow at 7:58, 74 seconds earlier than the day before.
It will set at 16:46, 104 seconds later than the day before.

Horseshoe Bend - the sharp crook in the Avon near Shirehampton is a notoriously tricky stretch of water to navigate and has been the cause of many boats running aground.
It is also why ships built in Bristol have been limited to around 98m (320ft) in length - about as long as the SS Great Britain.
