As you know on Friday I was in the middle of the Piodao fire in Santo Antonio. But where we have our holiday home Aldeia Das Dez was also in the midst of the horrendous fire. The flames were higher than the village and damage was done to houses. gofund.me/824622e9

Good news today Reunite Families UK were awarded costs by the Court from the Government. It felt for us like a David versus Goliath battle. For a small CIC to take the Government to court. But to get the judgement from the court was so important and we will keep fighting for our families

Yesterday I was in Parliament for @rfuk.bsky.social Love in Limbo exhibition. There was some inspirational speeches from Coram and RFUK members. It was great that Dr Simon Opher MP opened both the talk and the exhibition. Reunite Families UK have done so well in pursuing fairness for spousal visas

Today with the publication of the MAC review on spousal visa and the effect on families. I am so pleased with the work of @rfuk.bsky.social whose members have massively contributed to this report. Today they also published this incredibly powerful video youtu.be/y6WGZ4jOdxE

Anyone having a non UK spouse knows how hard complicated and expensive this system is.
Today is a pivotal day for bi-national couples and families: for the first time people on the spouse/partner visa route were listened to by a Committee that wanted to learn what life is really like when you want to live in the UK and were moved by what we read in the report #FamiliesBelongTogether🧵

I haven’t had a visa rant for a while. I was appalled at Starmers speech on Monday. If we had still been here Rosa and I could be facing another 5 years of visas making it impossible for me to retire. Meanwhile whilst we would be doing this we would be paying a small fortune

Valentines Day, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christmas and other festivals. Are difficult days for many families as they are parted from their loved ones.
As couples and families celebrate their love this #ValentinesDay, we're joining @rfuk.bsky.social and a coalition of organisations, to highlight how the #HostileEnvironment is preventing people from loving whoever they choose #LoveInLimbo 🧵

It gets tiring the constant immigrants are here to game the system rhetoric. This clip from @robespierre1794.bsky.social
Of Chris Philps does exactly that. We had another Tory say at spousal visa debate that all our spouses were dependents. This is just not true. youtu.be/X_yqIiDaJxs?...

I am in Washington this week. The metro at Arlington cemetery have an unusual way of denying you a service. There was no way to pay outside the barrier. You couldn’t load their card it wouldn’t let you use a bank card. At least it was a lovely walk back to the hotel.

This was entirely predictable, instead of giving people the BRP to the end of their visa. They are going to leave people to prove their immigration status with expired BRP. The stress our partners go through is totally unreasonable.

Coming up to Christmas, it is always good to think of others. I have never had to make terrible choices that some families have. Food banks are a life line to many. Giving to food banks in your area is a really simple way of helping
