Passionate about a fairer society Chief Executive of Status Employment and a Non Executive Director of Reunite Families UK. My views are my own
Then in 2001 it was 30 people with learning disabilities being paid £15 per week in West Sussex. I managed to use the national minimum wage act to get them their back pay. During my career I think I have come over 50 similar cases. To be happening now in 2025 is unfortunately not surprising

It is appalling that the first time I came across case like this in 1997 in Safeway in Bromley where a man with learning disabilities had been on work experience for 7 years. They wanted to terminate his employment. By the time I had finished he had a proper job supported by an employment consultant

We left in 2023 to live in Portugal. As even then we didn’t feel safe in the UK. Since then the rhetoric in the UK has got much worse. This latest statement is positively chilling. What is “cultural appropriate”.

It is chilling how the UK is moving further and further. Each party seeming to outdo themselves on a cruel policy. If like me you fell in love with a non UK person it makes the country increasingly unsafe for you both to be able to live your lives in peace.

in particular a good friend of ours Marisa whilst she was trying to save neighbours houses. Her House roof was hit by a fireball. The courageous firemen trying to save her house used a lot of water and obviously damage resulted to her house, unfortunately the insurance company are not paying for

And for those telling me if you don’t like the UK then why don’t you leave! That was the reason we did leave as we didn’t feel safe in the UK and the way it’s going we would feel less and less safe

For years I have been told about how tolerant the UK is. We have not experienced that tolerance. We also get told how foreigners should abide by the UK values for me they are now in the bin.

Britain seems to lurch to the tune of Farage who the media are obsessed with as it’s exciting for them. Much more exciting than the rise of the liberals and greens. If the UK isn’t careful it could end up like the USA with an extreme right wing government.

We would be told how my wife is the problem how she is making the UK a land of strangers. How she is the root of all the UK’s problems. It gets wearing being a citizen of nowhere hated and fleeced by your own country in equal proportions. The racism we have had to put up in the UK has been horrendous

We would have to listen how my wife is the problem how she is making the UK a land of strangers. How she is the root of all the UK’s problems. It gets wearing being a citizen of nowhere hated and fleeced by your own country in equal proportions.

I totally agree Rosa and I left just after her first renewal as we didn’t feel safe here after being exiled We could be potentially now be facing another 5 years with no prospect of me retiring and at least £13,000 to pay. All of this whilst my Rosa being blamed for being an immigrant

One would hope so I know this is a time for good men and women is not to do anything. Sometimes I know not what to do in the face of these mendacious lies and disinformation. I am grateful for you and many like you who wake up every morning and articulate what I want too.
