It was like getting together with some old friends and reminiscing on the good times we had together. Thanks for the thoughtful and thought provoking conversation!

The casuals I interact with enjoy going to games with friends and family, taking in what is a fun experience. I get that too, since that drove my family to be season ticket holders for over a decade. They're also, like I imagine most attendees are, less engaged in all the discourse around the club.
February 12, 2026 at 4:01 PM
For some I interact with, there's the John Fisher shadow that looms over the club, but most of all, it's the consistent "Wait until next year!" drumbeat, with a failure to deliver, that has faded enthusiasm. The most rabid fans have been slowly checking out over the last decade.

Nice write-up of the #Quakes74 roster heading into the 2026 season. Those 1 or 2 players Bruce Arena says the team is pursuing are vital to this team taking the next step toward a playoff position in the West. I, too, predict a big season from Preston Judd.
Hey everyone, it's that time of year again. My #quakes74 season preview for ASA has dropped. Give it a read along with the Colorado and RSL previews by @beninquiring.bsky.social and @harrisoncrow.bsky.social

Fifteen years ago, I got my dream job writing for MLSsoccer. Last week, that came to an end.

I'm off on my own, and it's time to build something new – with a little help from all of you.

It's fine, I agree. The tie-dye look is fun, in the details, though I doubt will be noticed on television.

New secondary jersey for the #Quake74 this season: The Grateful Dead Kit. Thoughts?

#Quakes74 win their first game of the CVI, 1-0 against Charlotte FC. Beau Leroux's first-half goal was the difference. San Jose's subs were better than Charlotte's in the second half, but they couldn't build on the lead.

Niko Tsakiris with a solid first half as attacking midfielder, and the good version of Daniel another highlight for the #Quakes74. Beau Leroux with a well placed shot gives San Jose a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Heavy news for #Quakes74 this morning, as the club announces the passing of head sporting strategist Vassili Cremanzidis. He was just 36.

“There are no words to adequately express the depth of our grief,” the Quakes said in a statement.

San Jose Earthquakes stadium has been chosen as one of six sites to host early round games of the LA 2028 Olympics soccer tournaments. The final stages will be held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

A cashfer for Chucky Lozano would be a move by the #Quakes74 that I'd endorse.

Arena sees Werner as being a leader for the team. Timo said he's looking forward to the opportunity and plans to bring a loose, fun vibe, but still expecting the best out of his teammates. Reminds me of the impact fellow Bundesliga veteran Florian Jungwirth had on his arrival in San Jose in 2017.
January 30, 2026 at 5:22 PM
Arena said he expects it will be 2 weeks before the paperwork is finished and Werner can join the team, with Werner telling him he's hungry to play and will be so right off the plane. Arena does expect him to be available for the #Quakes74 MLS season opener on February 21.
January 30, 2026 at 5:18 PM
My first impression from Timo Werner's introductory press conference is Bruce Arena and the #Quakes74 have hit a golazo with this signing. Timo, both as a person and a player, fits exactly what San Jose needs at this stage: experience, winning attitude, strong personal perspective.
January 30, 2026 at 5:07 PM
Kudos to Bruce and the organization for making this signing: it's the biggest move San Jose has made in the last decade, and it was sorely needed.
January 29, 2026 at 6:16 PM
The next steps, to me, are to complement Werner with teammates that can play an aggressive, athletic style of soccer. They've already got some players who can do so (Jones, Leroux, Judd, for example), but will it be enough is my concern.
January 29, 2026 at 6:14 PM
By signing Timo Werner, the #Quakes74 and Bruce Arena are following through on their intent to change the mentality at the club, but it will mean little unless the team ascends in its results. Bay Area fans, for the most part, expect their teams to be winners.

Chicho returns to San Jose!
January 28, 2026 at 12:45 AM
Bruce has shown in the past that he won't rush into making signings and is comfortable making them after preseason has begun. I'm not saying that is a great strategy, but there's still time to integrate new players into the rotation.
