I’m not sure that this makes sense. Of course there are wealthy and powerful people who benefit from the status quo, but isn’t it the case that democratic donors, and especially large ones, are ideologically to the left of the median voter?

… touch the ball twice.” The rule isn’t exactly a model of clarity, but I think that the word “clearly” is pretty significant here. It seems to be saying that incidental contact of the kind here shouldn’t be a violation, which should, IMO, the spirit of the rule.

I still don’t really understand how what Alvarez did was against the rules. What appears to be the applicable rule says, “The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves. The kicker must not play the ball again until it has touched another player.” Thats a pretty far cry from “you can’t …

Not at all a fan of Alito, but Stern’s characterization of the case is misleading. The Court didn’t find that the EPA lacks authority to regulate sewage. Whether the specific EPA action at issue complied w law was a legit close call, and I think the majority probably got it right.

I don’t watch every United game, but I have the same impression. Watching him and someone with similar physical tools like Delap is night and day. That said, I think he’s a decent player — I personally really value the runs he makes off ball to open space for his teammates.

Thanks to Eric Adams and the New York City Council, Simple Loaf on 5th Ave in Brooklyn went from having a beautiful outdoor dining setup with space for more than a dozen patrons to having space for parking two cars.
