so @matteowong.bsky.social & I wrote on data centers: arguably the most important buildings in the world & are, in a way, holding the economy hostage. Byzantine financial instruments, private equity, depreciating tech, hype, $trillion valuations. it’s all there. an ai crash prob starts here.

Dear System: give me back the health you're actively stealing from me and other #artists, by my forcing me to create art under such awful, unequal conditions (these conditions being Work & Economics.) Or I'll pull the health I'm owned out of your dead bones.

This was a Bluesky pain-release rant.
The actual meaning of my Repetitive Strain Injury is: people needlessly suffer under the repetitive strain of Capitalism & the shitty, deeply unfair societal healthcare gap. Why should rich bastards be able to immediately check into a private healthcare clinic for a mild punting strain? Fuck you!
After repeatedly hammering away at the Doctor's #surgery about my at-times *agonizing* shoulder #RSI #pain they've finally released me from the endless 'referral death spiral' and I'm seeing a.nother specialist - at the end of what will be a long-ass month of pointless suffering. But not meaningless
Nobody will read this, and if they do, since they are too are but one person alone in a societal network of neoliberal hyper-individualism and ruthless Thatcherite careerism, they will already be trained to ignore all other similar voices crying in the electronic void. The #Internet is the loneliest
Give me the basic equal and fair societal and cultural conditions I demand by default as a human being! Then we can talk out art (Art-As-Work, as in #Artwork.) As it is, I am an atomized individual left to hustle from one sentence to the next, without meaningful support networks of friends & artists
What is "Repetitive Strain Injury" after all, if not the repetitive stain of #BullshitJobs, grinding away the delicate gears of one's limited health into dust. If only I wasn't forced by poverty (caused by evil rich lizards) to sit here all flocking day and type crap into this stupid lump of plastic
Prevention above all else would be one possible way forward - but of course since there's far more naked profit to be made in synthetic, forever-temporary fixes this will never happen. We poor of the UK are sick & unhealthy, precisely because we're deliberately kept under the yoke of poverty.
Want a free insider tip for remaining healthy? Here's one: avoid the #NHS Accident & #Emergency ward like the flocking plague! Or Covid in this case, since I saw only one out of 40 people were wearing masks. What a desperate sink hole. Talk about a society of massive inequality; a vast Ginnungagap
The #NHS Accident & Emergency ward is not a place where understanding compassion and #empathy can survive, but rather were they go do die under the buzzing fluorescent lights of underpaid overwork, endless BS rounds of 'consultations' and other hyper-bureaucratic absurdity
One woman complained about her pain for a solid hour. The nurses on duty were kung-fu masters of de-escalation. There was a sorry kind of deadness in their eyes; one could easily tell the only way anyone working in such a desperate hell hole could survive mentally is to totally detach themselves
"NHS? NHS? THIS IS SPARTAN!!!" #healthcare #wellness #pain Several hours in some guy came around with the limpest, driest cheese sandwiches possible and offered people a cup of tea. 6.5 hours in A&E buddy, you'd better be offering patients iced frappacino with gold leaf shavings and a blowjob.
Oh #NHS, at this point how are you anything more than a shambling undead corpse, lurching from one deeply unsatisfied patient to another, ever possible corner cut, every single nod toward patient comfort dismissed out of hand - a barely functional nightmare of operational minimalism
Sitting on hard chairs for 6.5 hours under blaring lights the buzz of medical equipment & the sound of people's mobile phone games after three days of no sleep is a sweaty purgatory of unceasing misery and unnecessary suffering. There were even homeless people in there trying to get out of the cold
Spent 6.5 hours in Accident & Emergency w/ bad RSI injury. A&E is it's own kind of hell. Never seen a more sorry bunch of working class people in pain. One women I talked to had been there since 12pm *yesterday* and I was there around 4AM! A national f'ing disgrace. Talk about a two tier society
