I went to visit Space House ahead of the London Society event in a few weeks time. It’s even better than I dared hope for. The attention to detail from Squire and Partners is amazing.

Hugh, do you remember our event, Brutalism: Save it or Scrap it? That was 11 years ago and nothing has changed since.

Fascinating to see that ‘New Towns’ will really be urban extensions and that the government is aware that agencies like National Highways can block development. And what’s that I see about the “character” of housing reflecting local history…?

Learning that Iceland is having a greenhouse revolution. They can grow their own veggies all year round using clean energy and geothermal water. Way to go!

City of London at dusk has still got it. I have to be honest, I’m drawn to the old classics.

Canary Wharf in the fading light, shot on a Panasonic Lumix. Very happy with how the Herzog & de Meuron tower came out.

There were a lot of men in that post. There are a few films about female architects.

In preparation for the Brutalist, I’m spending the festive period watching films about architects.

My Italian Christmas tradition is no more. RIP Camisa.

Yes, surely that’s the best way to commemorate someone and serve the public good! But you know it’s going to be some kind of fountain or totem.

Reader, it’s going to exceed its £46m budget. Probably best we accept the inevitable outcome for the public purse now.

This is a really excellent episode. We must start seeing housing as infrastructure!

Should have said big pig energy.

Big hog energy in these posts.

üpdate: the hog has grown to be much larger than the sun. bröther, may it have this final öat?

It’s not really about the architecture though is it. M&S is a premium British brand and Oxford St has got to be the most famous shopping area in the country. The campaigners made this all about setting a precedent but it’s gone the wrong way now…

I was in the Shakespeare’s Head on Kingsway last week. What a great Spoons.

A lot of us were hoping that this new government would understand the carbon agenda but this is not a good first sign. Hopefully, it’s just one decision and that future calls for retrofit might go the other way. www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/ms-oxfo...

This book rewired my brain and changed my entire career. But you are much smarter and more resilient than I am, so you’ll probably be fine.

I think you might have added the wrong Open City account.
