new years birding westport lake ybw, scaup, 7 pochard. Ford green singing willow tit ,3 teal. Holden lane pool 8 RN parakeets total 43 birds before having to go work. First moth of the year the hibernating hummingbird hawkmoth is still present on the wall #staffsbirds #teammoth #staffsbirding

Female/juv scaup , Mandarin, 35 gadwall , wigeon , 70 tufted , 2 goosander, 2 water rail. Last visit of the year to Trentham finished on 103 +ruddy shelduck from 119 visits. #staffsbirds #staffsbirding

I've always liked hoverflies but im starting to obsess with the ones coming to the garden with 2 migratory ones in the last 2 weeks both relatively common but not many records locally to me in Stoke-on-trent. #hoverflies #ukhoverflies
