Slowly coming to terms with the fact that the Last Splash book is only 30k words, which breaks down to under 2k words per proposed chapter. This will be so much harder to write than an 80k word monograph lol.

JB is right that everything going on in the US rn smacks of gender, but it’s bc we’ve had 40 years of rw media framing the experience of privatization & the elimination of civil society as something wm experience primarily as trespassed & personally injured masculinity

Still have the idea brewing: it contrasts how Kimball/Milk Street explicitly names “philosophy” as two white guys thinkin high-falutin thoughts vs ATK who clearly has a well defined philosophy that centered on situated knowledges of a diverse staff, which they implement as an ethos

The New York-based DIY show listings zine GUNK published this list of local small-scale music venues that closed in 2025. It is so hard to keep a community-oriented music space open in this city. I really hope whoever leads Cultural Affairs for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social will take this seriously.
