Football (esp Liverpool), music (esp classic rock), films, whippets, science; sci-fi (esp Doctor Who); Politically greenish. He/him/er. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇩🇪🇪🇺; too old for all this nonsense.
I visited the site of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp last week. There is little of the original site left other than the mass graves looming over memorials.

It may have been the ambient noise on a quiet day, but the whole place felt haunted.

Will we ever learn from the past?

I thought this may be of interest to Beatles fans. It was a giant banner (tifo) displayed before the Champions League football match between Marseille and Liverpool last night.

A lovely touch from the French fans.

Tom Baker is 92! My father was born on exactly the same day and just a couple of miles away from him.

He died when I was quite young and sometimes wonder what he would have been like today. I'd like to think he would be like Tom: still full of humour and mad as a box of frogs.

Happy Birthday Tom!
Happy Birthday Doctor!

It's 40 years to the day that the great Phil Lynott died. This is a clip from a German gig in 1973 where Thin Lizzy weirdly combined two of my passions by playing the Doctor Who theme live.

It's 10 years to the day that Lemmy from Motörhead left the planet. The world is a worse place without the noisy bugger.

This was the performance that originally introduced him to me:

We are currently watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. A fun fact that I like about this film is that Mae Questel, who plays the somewhat dotty Aunt Bethany, was the voice of both Betty Boop and Olive Oyl. Once you know this, you can't unhear it.

This has really brightened up my morning. Two things that I really love: stop motion animation and a bit of George Harrison.

I'm feeling rather angry about this. I've met Robin Ince a couple of times at a small Doctor Who convention, and he is the nicest, most welcoming guy that you could hope to meet. Apparently, unless you are ragebaiting against minorities, you no longer have a voice.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

I was wondering what folks thought of the new Zootropolis/Zootropia/Zoomania film.

So, ChatGPT: show me a joyless, curmudgeonly review in the style of Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian.

I was just reminded that it is Guy Fawkes night in the UK. If your pets are bothered by loud noises, it is always worth sticking some relaxing music on for them.

As Arne Slot walks into training this morning he hears a wailing and crying noise coming from the laundry room. Opening the washing machine, amongst all the kit, Vinícius falls out.

Slot shouts out, “Bradley! I told you to check your pockets before putting the washing on!” #LFC #YNWA

Well, this raised eyebrows on my Halloween playlist. I don't think it's the tritone that makes this so disturbing, but more the sound of existential terror in Ozzy Osborne's voice.

If it was up to me, there would be no Nobel Peace Prize awarded for 2025, just to make a point. The world's leaders are simply awful. Why try to find a least bad option simply to deflect from the fact?

I saw the animated version of Doctor Who's "The Celestial Toymaker" tonight. I was very pleasantly surprised. The animation was top quality, and the story actually lends itself to the treatment.

My only criticism is that Peter Purves is far more handsome than that in real life.

I've just been to the dentist for my bi-annual Dremel / sand-blast session.

I have been told not to eat or drink anything for an hour. I have also been told to avoid black coffee, tea, red wine and curry (not happening).

I honestly feel like I should have left with a cone of shame on my head.

Sacked after 3 games? That's even less than Brian Clough lasted at Leeds. They’ll have to do a film about it: Bayer Verdammt.
Erik ten Hag has been sacked from his position as head coach of Bayer Leverkusen just three games into his tenure.
