The penalty was complete bullshit as well. As soon as that was given, I knew we'd get sod all from the game.

There was an episode of World In Action in the early 1980s where Conservative MP, Matthew Parris, tried to live one week on the "luxury" of unemployment benefit. He ended up sitting in the dark, cold and hungry, because it isn't quite the beano that he imagined.

I always think that there is something about the Judeo-Christian concept of God and heaven that makes it sound like a mafia operation. Maybe Hell is just another outfit but with better bars?

Yes, I should have known better. Anything that is attributed to Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, Einstein, Gandhi or whoever, probably originated from a less recognisable wit.

"I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure." - Mark Twain

FWIW, I cracked open a bottle of champagne when Thatcher died. Some deaths are worth celebrating.

It's kind of ironic that it falls in remembrance week. Let's all remember our veterans with PTSD by randomly letting off weapons grade bangers all week. I'm sure it's fine if you are wearing a Poppy...

I haven't seen this yet, but it sounds quite a similar concept to "By Dawn's Early Light".

I can't see how that can be easily implemented, or what it intends to achieve. A charge on fossil fuel electricity production might work, and would be much cheaper to implement.

And, somewhat ironically, produced by Verity Lambert who had produced Doctor Who in the first place.

I have the feeling that this series will be rather stillborn, a bit like "Class" which was hidden away like an embarrassment. I'm actually looking forward to this, but I am expecting it to be a one off, unless there is interest enough for Big Finish to take up the reins.

At normal speed it looked like he was pushing him over. In slow mo it looked like he was going for a vulcan death grip. I'm guessing VAR sees what it wants.

Does Macca being a wind-up merchant come into it?

I'm glad that someone else has pointed this out. I think it's mainly in the US that they don't get traditional working-class British popular culture. Apparently, their idea of family entertainment is some bimbo in a Hooters T-shirt firing an assault rifle.

Is it only the Zygon story affected? On the other boxed sets, I noticed that there were "DVD edition" options, which I haven't watched for the most part.

If they have never met an immigrant, they probably believe that they are waited on hand and foot in a golden palace whilst they are waiting for a GP appointment and for a pot hole to be repaired. Unfortunately, that's the narrative that they have been fed.

I watched this a couple of months back, and the stop motion animation is pretty decent - there just isn't that much of it.

Gorgo came out a couple of years later, and I found it a more entertaining film. It was a bloke in a dinosaur suit, but there was a lot more action in it.

I remember when this was on, I liked Sarah Greene and was a huge Doctor Who fan, but she was unrecognisable!

Weirdly enough, I am just watching The Horns of Nimon and Janet Ellis pops up in a small part. And of course, Peter Purves was a regular - must be something about Blue Peter presenters.

I was just contemplating why anyone would have switched over from BBC1, and then noticed Nigel Kneale's Beasts on ITV. It really was a golden age for television.

Yes, the original was stolen in 1911 and this one was bought, thinking it was the original. There's info about it here:

Is that why this is in Liverpool.

It reminded me a bit of Father Christmas showing up at the end of an episode. It was actually a very clever device in the end.

The question is, whether RTD has thought this through, or has he just thrown in a hand-grenade for someone else to clean up?

Then add an option to block the bots. It would greatly reduce the amount of homophobic abuse I've had to put up with on Facebook over the last couple of days.
