When the old furnace goes, replace it with a heat pump! We did and zero regrets. With our rooftop solar we get the added bonus of free cooling in the summer on top of drastically reduced winter heating costs, plus way less carbon emissions. Very short term payoff for any higher costs.
Most people don’t know this: Heat pumps REDUCE gas consumption even if running 100% on electricity from a gas fired power plant.

Some of my favorite sounds:

Crunch of freshly fallen snow.

First pour from a bottle of wine.

ICE cracking.

When the U.S. Supreme Court said that you could detain people based on their race, their accent, or the language they spoke… there is nothing to preclude ICE from doing that while you’re standing in line getting ready to cast a ballot.

For Renée Good

For Alex Pretti

For the unnamed people who are afraid to send their kids to school, get groceries, go to work, dine out with friends, take out the garbage, or walk their dog.

Tomorrow thaw comes to MN. Hope ICE will melt. They won’t snuff out our fire or light. That stuff spreads!

Whether it’s Hank Green, Khan Academy, PBS, or NPR, I think our media and educational content should be a non-profit, public good.

Going to clicks, ad revenue, and investor returns always gets in the way of the mission. And we all lose out.

Way underreported ICE activity:

$1,000 or more bribes for people to rat out people of color living in their neighborhoods.

Abhorrent, racist practice and scandalous misuse of our tax dollars.

This must end when considering funding instead of ending this sick, coercive, corrosive brute squad.

👇🎯 Not once has the national media asked a GOP politician about affording ICE the way Biden/the Dems were asked about the cost of
student loan debt relief & literally everything else for the last 50 years.
Folks are dying from winter storms and the power has been out for a week but the government can spend big money on detention camps. bsky.app/profile/cost...
How many times in your life have you heard a member of Congress or someone on TV say “we can’t afford it” when talking about something small but very important? It’s been happening my entire life. We can’t afford it? They’re putting seven times the annual budget of the EPA into immigrant detention.

Do what you can, where you are, in ways that fits for you to stand up for and help the oppressed & work against injustice and the oppressors. Even just letting other people know where you stand can be powerful. One person can make a difference. Let’s do this.

Whatever our immigration problems might be, brutality and concentration camps are not the solution.
After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.
