A huge cause of this drop in asylum grant rates is the rise of “pretermission”; judges denying applications without ever having a hearing. This used to be incredibly rare and now it’s become normal, with the Trump admin strongly pushing judges to deny on minor technical faults and red tape issues.
Asylum grant rates were lowering w/ Biden, but now cut in 1/2 with Trump. TRAC receives data from the Exec Office of Immigration Review each year. You might not have caught what just happened on the Senate floor, but the Senate just “deemed as passed” the Epstein resolution.

That means as soon as it arrives from the House, it automatically passes the Senate (with no amendments) and heads to the President’s desk.
